I've never had chipotle but they're opening one a few blocks from where i live so I'm going to go and be underwhelmed real soon

then be overwhelmed by listeria i guess

I dunno it was a good burrito! I can’t make them at home like that. Can’t eat confit de canard for *every* meal

Can you get just chips and queso? I might do that

Stock tanking today, glad I sold my shit awhile ago

On the other hand, I think McDonalds somehow unlearned everything they learned when they had a large share in Chipotle

"I ate at Chipotle today because my Mexican options here are not good" sums things up

their chips are usually terrible though, so much salt

global tetrahedron, Wednesday, 25 October 2017 23:51 (six years ago) link

you guys do all realize that Chipotle recently got shit on for paying its workers too much, right? Apparently $9 an hour is too much for the banksters to handle.

The Chipotle near my work has the friendliest, most diverse, well-trained staff and the vibe from the people alone makes me feel ok eating really salty chips?

mh, Thursday, 26 October 2017 01:50 (six years ago) link

I am a salt fan

The chips are mostly good. Sometimes you get some really salty ones but that’s what the salsa is for. If y’all eating plain chips then I don’t even know why you left the house, Tostitos got you covered

El Tomboto, Thursday, 26 October 2017 02:16 (six years ago) link

You have severe problems maintaining sanitary conditions in your restaurants. Also, you need to pay your workers less.

:O=

i don't really have food opinions here but the chipotle i used to live near was a smooth-running operation; i moved literally one town away and my new chipotle is a shitshow, like i've waited 20+ minutes on weeknights on multiple occasions. it's a convenient distance from my house but like i don't go to chipotle to chill in line.

always check redfin's chipotle hotness meter before you offer

Spottie, Thursday, 26 October 2017 02:35 (six years ago) link

yeah i love their chips but i also would basically eat salt straight up if it were socially acceptable

same

also the whole bacterial thing was because of their locally sourced organic thing, controversial opinion

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 26 October 2017 02:50 (six years ago) link

We had a party with Chipotle catering well after the outbreak, and they did great and it was great and everyone was happy. Around $200 to feed 25 folks, well packaged and easily transportable piles of assemble it yourself ingredients, chafing dishes, fires, the whole deal. Thinking of doing it again. Maybe we have a good location?

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 26 October 2017 02:51 (six years ago) link

they cater work events for us sometimes & i dig it

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 26 October 2017 02:53 (six years ago) link

I went to pitchfork fest a decade ago and chipotle was catering the backstage area. Saw that skinny dude from Deerhunter eating a burrito the size of my head.

chipotle online ordering works well

i have been out of the world for a while so i been goin to chipotle lately just to like, engage in commerce, feels ok, kinda anonymous, fills a void that returns quickly, brings back that old feeling of being a wage-earner

Can’t eat confit de canard for *every* meal

See now if they had a chain that sold modestly priced confit de canard in a fast-casual setting in every mid- to large-size American city I'd be all over that

(though I would have said the same about "Middle Eastern Chipotle" but actually it exists, it's called Naf Naf, and it's not that great)

Guayaquil (eephus!), Thursday, 26 October 2017 14:20 (six years ago) link

There's also Roti, another "Middle Eastern Chipotle."

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 26 October 2017 14:27 (six years ago) link

I feel like 10 years ago Chipotle had an unimpeachable burrito-wrapping technique, but nowadays they just hand new recruits a tortilla and tell em "you'll get the hang of it!"

how's life, Thursday, 26 October 2017 14:30 (six years ago) link

you are overloading your burrito

you are juror number 144 and we will excuse you (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 26 October 2017 14:36 (six years ago) link

I think that's down to management not enforcing the training regimen

mh, Thursday, 26 October 2017 14:36 (six years ago) link

near the campus where i work there are about 5 or 6 chipotle-style "fast casual" places and they all pretty much suck tbh

marcos, Thursday, 26 October 2017 14:49 (six years ago) link

Want you guys to know I bought a Chipotle burrito today because of this thread. It's right next to me in a bag. I'll report back after I eat it. Based on the discussion here, I chose not to get the queso.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:24 (six years ago) link

I passed on chipotle because of this thread. I had mini chicken katsu from L&L and am at peace with my decision.

you are juror number 144 and we will excuse you (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:35 (six years ago) link

That was OK, I guess. I got the steak. One piece of meat was unchewably gristly and I had to spit it out into a napkin. Something was unexpectedly spicy -- the guacamole? but not in an interesting way, more in a generically hot way. It fulfilled the goal of being fast to purchase, easy to carry and filling, but I'm not enthusiastic about going to Chipotle again.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:40 (six years ago) link

Woman who assaulted Chipotle worker sentenced to fast food job for two months

(Judge) Gilligan told Hayne she could cut off 60 days in jail if she agreed to work at least 20 hours per week at a fast-food restaurant for two months.

Hayne accepted.

In court, Hayne apologised and tried to explain the rationale behind her screaming at the Chipotle worker, 26-year-old Emily Russell.

"If I showed you how my food looked and how my food looked a week later from that same restaurant, it's disgusting looking," Hayne said, according to WJW.

"I bet you won't be happy with the food you are going to get in the jail," Mr Gilligan quipped.
