the new perlon - 'my auntie' by cassy is rocking my day.

i think it's a shame they didn't get kalabrese to make more records. his two non perlon releases this year have been fab.

i guess the dandy jack requires deep listening. i've skimmed through it a couple of times in the shops but it didn't make me want to buy it (i think it's the only perlon record i've not bought). everyone however tells me it's great. i just wish i had the time for deep listening!

cassy's "my auntie" is a great single! the tunes are hypnotic and rhythmically disorienting like the best perlon, but take the sound somewhere closer to classic jacking house. is cassy the first (solo) woman to release on perlon?

Mind if I a) agree with Cassy love, b) agree with Dandy Jack love, c) make a very brief case for purchasing Narcotic Syntax d) agree with Stirmonster's views regarding Kalabrese, except for the fact I only know of one recent Kalabrese release (the excellent "Huhnerfest" on Stattmusik) and would like to know more about his other release.

Yes! do it....one of my fav perlon tracks. that swinging latin and echo'd drum sound just gets the people moving around the floor. the kinda tune that makes people put one arm up in the air and jump on one leg

i work for a digital download company and we have the Perlon cataloge for sell. well, when we launch, we'll have the entire Perlon cataloge plus loads of other likeminded stuff. it's coming, be patient.

Thanks, I just heard a snippet at a store and have to track it down now.

In regards to the Dandy Jack album, if you just want to skim it, I'd say go from the end of "Arabs in the Desert" and into the beginning of "Samba Lubeck". To semi-repeat myself, in regards to the Dandy Jack album, if you want to give it a deeper listen, I'd say go from the beginning of "Arabs in the Desert" and through to the end of "Samba Lubeck".

once again, i will stand 200% behind the dandy jack album (and at first i didn't like it AT ALL)... i really think it needs to be listened to in its entirety, over quite a bit of time... skimming just won't reveal much.

the stefann goldmann is fucking fantastic. three killer tracks.

just bought cassy yesterday but haven't listened yet.

I am convinced the reason people don't like better music over here is that clubs must close at 3. All this stuff goes in weird post 3am directions.

i think the cassy would work in a primetime set though, but because it's perlon it's a really flexible record too. when i say "5am endup material", i am actually referring to a san francisco club that plays dark, dubby and pumping house starting really late in the night and going past dawn where people really dance. it's very much an anything goes serious nightclubbing type of vibe.

we're doing a whorehouse tonight in glasgow, hence all the perlons. but yes, that is a plan for next year to do a perlon night with zip and hopefully former perloners morane live.

i did play the cassy and a few other perlons but not as many as i'd hoped to. in fact i ended up playing a totally different bunch of records than i'd intended to for some reason. it was good to finally meet you cozen.

xpost, i stayed home and mixed and watched eraserhead instead. what a truly fucked up film. oddly beautiful though. the monsoon weather kind of killed any motivation i had left by the time i decided that it would be good to socialize outside of an ILM perlon thread.

(dude i wish rx was not the default option for those into more adventurous forms of house and techno because it is not a real nightclub. i think it's cool and i go a lot, but it's a weird space. insert rant about the bizarre conservatism of sf's music scene here.)
