The only celeb I've seen since moving to Chicago was Jeff Tweedy at the Black Dice/Animal Collective show.

The other day while I was shopping for groceries, I saw Rick Mercer walk by at a brisk pace with someone else. Yes, he was talking, but no, it wasn't being filmed.

I saw Don McKellar (Highway 61, The Red Violin) walking down College Street the other day. He saw me too, but no one cares about that.

oh man, I saw Adri3nn3 Cl4rks0n! she was just walking up commercial drive in Vancouver, happy as can be, with hubby J0hn Raulst0n Sau1 by her side. It was pretty exciting, speaking as a polisci geek. I smiled at her, and started to laugh; she smiled back. She's really tiny; he's about 1 1/2 feet taller.

She's the G0vern0r G3n3ral, BTW, iow the Queen's representative in Canada.

What made me happiest is that our head of state, who is technically the most powerful person in the country, was simply walking down the street, no entourage, no cops, no security. Just walking down the street. It made me really proud of the country.

On Friday night I walked past Eddie 1zzard on Whitfield St. He was coming towards us, and just before we reached him, he stopped, climbed up on the fence he was stood next to, looked in the window of the building behind it, and whistled. Then he climbed down again, laughed, and kept walking. The window belonged to a lawyer's office. I wonder what he was up to.

After drunkenly shouting to Theresa May (the page 3 girl) down a street that I was her biggest fan. Her boyfriend, the boxer Robin Reid, replied "not as big as I am".

Man, I'm on a celeb spotting roll. Just walked down whitfield street again this morning, and passed Cl1ve 4nderson. Then went into the Wheatsheaf on Rathbone place, and the only other two people in there were Ricky G3rvais and St3phen M3rchant having lunch together. Comedians! Everywhere!

JimD (JimD), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:30 (nineteen years ago) link

"I was in the pub earlier tonight, and Rob Newman was in there looking like an absolute tramp. His hair was long and unkempt, he had a huge beard, and he was slumping across the bar in a very drunken manner. It was a bit depressing, truth be told."

eh, i don't think that was him. he takes nothing stronger than coffee these days, and when i saw him on the 22nd (? i think - sometime last week anyhow) his hair was short, he was clean shaven and he looked generally fit and happy. i might even go so far as to say rowr. also saw him about three weeks ago looking the same - def not long enough for him to've grown his hair long and cut it off again. (nb i am not a stalker, he lives round our way.)

Bluetones guitarist blokey (Adam?) got on the tube before me at Archway this morning wearing a nice midnight blue velvet jacket and looking all cute and cross-eyed. Be still my beating 16-yr-old heart.

Shane MacGowan hangs out at the hipster pub over the road from my flat a lot, but this is annoying due to said hipster content. It's nice when it's just you, Shane and the cats though.

My Dad met Daniel Day-Lewis at a social event last Sunday. He said he was very tall, with smiling eyes and a natural athletic ability. I'm not quite sure what kind of an event this was...

My brother and my nephew (his son obv.) saw George Bush the first AND the Dalai Lama in one airport experience. Both waved at Gus, who was four at the time.
I expect he will be confused by this. Should I save Tibet or make money in oil? HMMM.
