raiders have jet lag for sure

what happened (daria-g), Monday, 25 September 2017 02:41 (six years ago) link

if raiders lose then only 2 teams will be 3-0 after week 3, atlanta and kansas. gotta be pretty rare to have so few.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 25 September 2017 02:42 (six years ago) link

man the way the Lions lost was absolutely brutal

Shannon Sharpe so eloquently called out every hypocrite in the league in his sermon today. pic.twitter.com/xnNFj7XYIs

i guess if you dont know how to block you just lay down and hope they trip on you

Spottie, Monday, 25 September 2017 18:27 (six years ago) link

it's embarrassing when you collectively get your offensive line instructions mixed up with the recent "what to do when your clothes are on fire" lesson the seahawks had.

nomar, Monday, 25 September 2017 18:29 (six years ago) link

ppl mock them but since the seahawks implemented their stop drop and roll blocking scheme not a single player has died of fire related injuries, and only a single tiny qb has died as a result of fumbling the snap and being jumped by 5 giant dudes

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 25 September 2017 18:34 (six years ago) link

xxposts: 99% of the time Sharpe is an annoying blowhard but damn I kinda love that speech

worth reading the whole thread, of course.

jerry kneeled with the players before the anthem, not even during it, and ppl still booed and are v mad online

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 00:55 (six years ago) link

That seems pretty significant

gotta say i didn't see that coming

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 01:13 (six years ago) link

even if the league's response this weekend was straight out of the dysfunctional family playbook--we can rip each other to shreds, but come at us from the outside and watch the ranks close--it's better than i would have hoped or expected. bullying has its limits as a tactic.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 01:19 (six years ago) link

as far as i have seen the only owner who has explicitly criticized the protests this weekend was jerry richardson, surely the worst human being to currently own a football team in what is a highly competitive field

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 01:30 (six years ago) link

cards offense is p ugly. they don't deserve david johnson anyway. turning out to not be such a bad season for him to sit out.

larry fitz has had to go both balls out and back in time 10 years to keep az in this

Jerry Jones kneeling had me like whaaaaaaaat

Spottie, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 03:16 (six years ago) link

the kneeling was before the anthem, not during it. it was a compromise and probably his way of upholding his "no protesting during the anthem" policy

k3vin k., Tuesday, 26 September 2017 03:27 (six years ago) link

Oh didn’t see that

Spottie, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 03:36 (six years ago) link

ugh im so disgusted I believed in jerry jones for like two hours of my life ugggghhh

Spottie, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 04:13 (six years ago) link

i mean that was my interpretation at least

k3vin k., Tuesday, 26 September 2017 04:15 (six years ago) link

yeah looks like he was trying to please both side but somehow ended up pissing off some of both sides while also making some on both sides proud? idk

Eric Reid (the player that started the kneeling with Kaep last year) post was good:
https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/09/25/opinion/colin-kaepernick-football-protests.html

Spottie, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 04:43 (six years ago) link

worth remembering that complaints about the protests have ~0 to do with the anthem/flag which is why ppl were still incensed and why jerry kneeling was still great. that someone like him was manoeuvered into legitimizing the protests, or the right to protest, is a big development. yeah this weekend's actions became about responding to trump and the right to protest vs the protest itself but the usual tactics of marginalizing and threatening employment are gone now. and even so, a handful of high profile ppl did take the opportunity to say something about the actual substance of the protest.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 13:02 (six years ago) link

yea this is 100% the most frustrating part of this, everyone on the right seems fine advancing the "they're protesting the flag of this great country!" narrative when they explicitly are not doing that

jeez just read Sproles tore his acl and broke his arm last week. probably time to retire

Spottie, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 16:53 (six years ago) link

never heard of anyone sustaining two season-ending injuries on one play

tbh I didn't even know Sproles was still in the league. guys like that only last like 2-4 years

frogbs, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 17:43 (six years ago) link

he was still producing! such a cool player

Spottie, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 17:45 (six years ago) link

Chief Smith is out of the country on vacation, but on Facebook, he responded to KDKA:

“I am embarrassed at this. I want to apologize. I was frustrated and angry at the Steelers not standing the anthem. This had nothing to do with my Fire Department. I regret what I said.”

the thing about really dumb people is sometimes when they type something they think only they can see it, maybe.

DirecTV allows Sunday Ticket refunds after NFL protests, per report https://t.co/wV9eBUc5U3

— SB Nation NFL (@SBNationNFL) September 26, 2017

this is some embarrassing shit. they should cancel without refund and then bilk them for a full cost season subscription again when they quietly change their mind in 2 weeks

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 20:28 (six years ago) link

they really are the worst. I got Sunday Ticket for free (which I used, like...twice) because I moved and wanted to cancel. never mentioned to me that it auto-renews and there is no way in their online system to cancel it, or even see that it's going to auto-renew. instead you have to have a 30-minute phone conversation where you have to explain why you don't want it even if they knock $5 off the cost.

frogbs, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 20:40 (six years ago) link

that's hilarious tbh, if they really want to voluntarily lose revenue over something they have no control over, then by all means
