last night's might have been the best episode yet

ultra-confident morty cracked me up with nearly every line

another great one. i don't have much to say about it. i'd say the best episodes of the season are 1-2-3 and this one, followed by 5 then 4 easily the worst.

Huh I thought this one was the weakest - the premise didn't seem quite as well thought through. Still great though.

Detoxified Morty going nutso in the restaurant was a highlight.

i think this week's is going to stand up to repeated viewings better than any other episode so far this season.

gotta agree with chap – fine eposide, but the weakest so far this season.

tho garbage Rick being the one who also suffered from emotional attachments to family was a quality twist!

So catching up with cult cartoons, I'm really enjoying this one! It's like Dr. Who crossed with Beavis and Butthead.

That was great, but I'm always wanting this show to get more into its sf elements. Actually think it's doing a better job of having fun with the "Council of Reeds" idea than Fantastic Four ever did (tho "fun" wasn't really the goal there, I guess).

I'm only on season 2 but it's like (as mentioned)Dr. Who plus Back to the Future plus Beavis and Butthead plus Ren and Stimpy plus Aqua Teen Hunger Force plus Futurama divided by, I dunno, Phineas and Ferb. The only bad thing I can say about it right now is how sure I am there is no way in hell I could get my wife to sit through it.

latest ep. is Citadel of Ricks a parody of something specific? some of the jokes seemed like i was supposed to "get" a reference that wasn't there for me

the marty kid team is based on stand by me, otherwise i don't think there's a specific parody.

It was definitely pulling from that last Dredd movie a bit, but sorta like the Stand By Me thing, not an outright homage or parody.

i went back and watched a bunch of s1 and man, s3 is a huge improvement. a lot of the jokes in some of my fav episodes ("total rickall") don't even land really. Everything feels really tightened up

the cop morty storyline felt very training day

also, total rickall is still the GOAT episode and i mourn the loss of pencilvester and reverse giraffe every day

hmm i've watched every episode but have no recollection of this [/stoner]

on that note i'm rewatching from season 1. v v funny but also helping to put in perspective, now confident there is no drop-off in season 3

one thing that got a lot better is rick's ad-libbing

Enjoyed the last couple of episodes but disagree that this season is any better than the previous ones. The first couple of eps of s1 are a bit 'finding its feet' but other than that it's gold

Last nights ep was pretty dece. The funniest thing for me tho was something happening in the background for 5 seconds - House Hunters! I almost died laughing, and it was such a dumb joke.

Rick breaks fourth wall often. Morty and Summer were subtly approaching this in the new one.

I guess I'm thinking of when he said "Save it for Youtube" or whatever the quote was.

Harmon suggested "Interdimensional Cable" was gonna be their "Treehouse Of Horror" so I guess they gave up on that idea.

this wasn't the world's most mind blowing ep but it was a very clever way of doing a 'clip show of clips you haven't seen' ep lol

Harmon and co. did a similar thing in the third season of Community

I guess it was the inverse of Total Rickall which was a clip show of clips that even the characters on the show never saw.

my favorite part was the light switch joke. one of those jokes you might hear in a bar, but with extra wtfness.

the part with Morty using the magnet to attract hot girls was hilarious only cos it was painfully obv what he was going to do the moment he started inching towards the machine

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewers head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
