Why does that guy from the Vale insist on wearing that same chest plate every single day? It's gross.

Evan, Monday, 28 August 2017 18:20 (six years ago) link

Have we heard anything else about the final final season being pushed out to 2019?

El Tomboto, Monday, 28 August 2017 18:43 (six years ago) link

Seriously?

i am curious to see what qyburn will do with the wight in a bag's corpse. i bet he's gonna cook up some insane shit

yeah I think qyburn is gonna be enamored of the walker's power and do something dumb

gbx, Monday, 28 August 2017 19:12 (six years ago) link

But was it ever implied that it's anything more than a regular corpse once "killed"?

Evan, Monday, 28 August 2017 19:16 (six years ago) link

to go back to something i've been marinating on, they really blew it w/the knife scene earlier this season, they completely telegraphed it when Bran dropped that "chaos is a ladder" bit (and when we barely saw him the rest of the season til the trial.) as soon as i saw him sitting there, it was like, well of course this Littlefinger shit will come out right here and now.

If they were trying to create any suspense at Winterfell, they should have pulled back on the Arya = psycho stuff, maybe just made her a bit less icy and a bit more PTSD or distant, made Sansa a bit more trusting of LF from the get go (and made LF a bit more "shocked" at what happened to her w/Ramsay), and then during this trial (if it even had to happen), maybe have Bran take a look at the knife at some point and then hold it and then, boom, it all hits him.

or maybe just handle Bran's realization better, and LF's subsequent awareness that the game is up. maybe he leaves in the night, and he's dealt with later. it seems as though he was very, very bad at recognizing when he was trapped.

nomar, Monday, 28 August 2017 19:21 (six years ago) link

No one else is concerned that Bran looked freshly shaved but have you ever wondered why they never show anyone shaving? This show is so dumb.

brotherlovesdub, Monday, 28 August 2017 19:23 (six years ago) link

Joking?

Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 28 August 2017 19:31 (six years ago) link

Watch the very first episode if you want to see the Stark bros at Winterfell's well stocked grooming salon.

nashwan, Monday, 28 August 2017 19:32 (six years ago) link

I'm still rooting for Littlefinger to win the game in the books.

Frederik B, Monday, 28 August 2017 19:34 (six years ago) link

she's a figure out of shakespearean or greek tragedy.

Don't forget the Dickensian aspect.

Leee Media Naranja (Leee), Monday, 28 August 2017 19:34 (six years ago) link

The question is what they did with Littlefinger's body (also whether Arya sliced his face off in the process) as presumably the Night King will raise more of the dead from graves south of the Wall.

nashwan, Monday, 28 August 2017 19:36 (six years ago) link

so what you're saying is that undead littlefinger could still win the iron throne

Can we talk about Brienne and the Hound acting like an amicably divorced mom and dad co-parenting Arya, their Murder Baby #GameOfThrones

and turns out he had the best character arc by far in the season. like you feel it had a beginning middle end with a real build instead of a random sets of events fan servicing.

Just caught up.
Ah, the old Battlestar Galactica 'go on then, do it' still going strong then

i figure it's on the table, since the current imaginations of the writers seems about as inventive as browsing /r/gameofthrones and picking the best fan fiction plots to write in

Not sure I enjoyed the Zombie dragon destroying everything being crammed into the final few minutes rather than leaving it to look forward to in s8e01 rather than some Saving Private Yara snoozefest.

Also come on Bran, why haven't you told anyone all your super secrets up til now?
LF death was satisfying, good recap on why he's p much to blame for everything.

kinder, Monday, 28 August 2017 20:39 (six years ago) link

also with the speed at which everything's happened this season, how come Cersei isn't on the brink of going into labour (if the pregnancy is even real)?

Can Arya take on the identity of a white walker as a faceless person? Like slice off a white walker face, and then walk among the zombies wights unnoticed and get up close to the night king and then stab him with a dragonglass dagger?

sansa riff (sarahell), Monday, 28 August 2017 22:42 (six years ago) link

No silly, white walkers shatter when killed.

Fun as it was to get (almost) the whole gang together I couldn't work out why some of those people were even there in the first place. Like what possible reason would there be to bring Missandei or Theon along?

The whole Theon storyline feels completely peripheral at this stage, I'm guessing the Iron Island ships are going to come in useful/the fleet is going to sail in and save the day at the last possible moment, but really who cares at this point.

I was thinking about this myself...

Evan, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 15:44 (six years ago) link

yeah i was wondering how theon got himself promoted to a seat at the most important meeting ever

I Love You, Fancybear (symsymsym), Tuesday, 29 August 2017 16:20 (six years ago) link

While I can certainly see how anyone would think the Greyjoy family drama is completely superfluous at this point, I actually thought Theon's road to redemption looked like the most interesting and compelling storyline that was set up for next season. Certainly the closest plot to the old seasons before magic shit took over. NB, I also enjoy all the magic shit.

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 16:26 (six years ago) link

The old seasons were never really about redemption, though?

Frederik B, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 16:37 (six years ago) link

been thinking on that too. who's in charge of Highgarden and everything south/east (including all of Dorne)? And who's in charge of the Riverlands (including Riverrun and the Twins)?!

Mad Piratical (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 29 August 2017 16:51 (six years ago) link

Jamie had a redemption arc over the first three seasons but has just yo-yo'd wildly since. I'm looking forward to him reaching Winterfell and being thanked by Bran for setting him on his immensely rewarding career path.

nashwan, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 18:01 (six years ago) link

Too bAd the show is going more in this "rightful king" "rightful lady" direction out of landfill fantasy.

Hopefully they'll have the guts to subvert that by having Dani and Jon eventually foreswear the throne in favour of someone who'll be better at it, eg Tyrion or Varys.

That was a pretty cracking finale to a patchy season, silly in a good way, everything sorta made sense. People complaining about the season ending with the fucking wall being blown to shreds by a fucking ice dragon get over yourselves.

A friend of mine argued that the only credible route once Jon finds out the truth about his heritage is that he feels dutybound to rule

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 29 August 2017 19:34 (six years ago) link

Dudes it is obviously going to end with a pivot to democratic principles, that's been thematically reinforced in so many scenes at this point

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 19:39 (six years ago) link

the night king takes over and establishes zombie democracy

rock and roll tucci coo (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 29 August 2017 19:39 (six years ago) link

they'll end the show with the first ever general election, and in a shocking twist everyone will just vote for the loudest drunkest idiot in all of westeros because they've had enough of dynasty rule and they want someone who represents their impossible desires to say "fuck you" to the entire system

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 19:42 (six years ago) link

then the white walkers will invade again, the new drunk idiot ruler will say that all things equal, westeros should be friends with the white walkers, right, it'll turn out that the drunk idiot ruler actually owns several lucrative properties far north of the wall, and half of the voters will agree that yes, westeros should be friends with the night king, makes sense

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 19:44 (six years ago) link

Camera pulls out, whole show is just inside a snowglobe belonging to the Night King's little boy.
