There's no way sand snake daughter is alive. Sand snake mother is probably alive.

even when they show people dying they bring them back! everybody's a marvel universe style schrodinger's cat

Remember- she wasn't dying though. Just the daughter.

Evan, Sunday, 27 August 2017 03:00 (six years ago) link

i think i can guess but just to confirm - benjen's not going to come back as a whitewalker, right? because he's already dead? or something? because if he winds up as a zombie mini-boss in the final season that's gonna add a whole layer of wtf-ness to his sudden appearance and pointless death

Karl Malone, Sunday, 27 August 2017 03:22 (six years ago) link

what i wanna know is, why didn't benjen get on the horse with jon, what did he hope to achieve by staying behind

holding off the horde ?

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Sunday, 27 August 2017 10:42 (six years ago) link

i want to know more about this ice king and his friend. they have cool clothes. who made the clothes? do they eat?

akm, Sunday, 27 August 2017 13:30 (six years ago) link

I said it way back but I'm disappointed they gave the white walkers clothes and made them show emotions etc. Now they're just the "bad guys". I wouldn't be surprised if the first sound the night king made was an evil laugh during the wall collapse.

I wish they stayed this alien, humanoid personification of a deadly storm that was set on mindlessly wiping out humanity via an undead horde.

I liked when they looked more like this:

This is corny to me:

Evan, Sunday, 27 August 2017 15:09 (six years ago) link

Oops those were way bigger than I thought they'd be

Evan, Sunday, 27 August 2017 15:09 (six years ago) link

OTM tho, I forgot they were topless nutters initially.

Benjen should reappear as a wight alongside Hodor, would be more interesting.

Hopefully get to see the Night King just fly over the wall and south for a bit doing some damage but the Wall magic probably extends upwards into space. Watching them test this out for a while from greater and greater height might be funny.

nashwan, Sunday, 27 August 2017 15:40 (six years ago) link

they def dark crystal-d the walkers out and it doesn't help
that x-men armor doesn't look very useful, show them desiccated pecs

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Sunday, 27 August 2017 16:17 (six years ago) link

OTM re Walker Fashion. imma guess it's mostly a concession to budget but yeah, night king has gotten hella corny.

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Sunday, 27 August 2017 20:52 (six years ago) link

If you're going to dress them up, at least make them look like they're wearing human armor that was forged thousands of years ago. That would make more sense.

Evan, Sunday, 27 August 2017 22:39 (six years ago) link

it is extremely important that the character called the Night King have a sensible wardrobe and not be too corny

El Tomboto, Sunday, 27 August 2017 23:18 (six years ago) link

Does he even know that is what he's called? "Bahaha, to these cunts I'm just Gary."

the theon sequence in this episode was insanely bad

well. I guess we're getting there. one way or another

...several other sequences were just as bad, it turns out

I gotta say finally seeing baelish get it and and end of the sibling rivalry is really satisfying.

the actual nadir of this episode was theon getting in that little quip "that insult wasn't even good" or w/ever literal moments after he's supposed to be fretting over his sister's life, wtf

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Monday, 28 August 2017 02:59 (six years ago) link

lol at dude telling theon twice, stay down i don't wanna have to kill you and then he gets beaten to death by an unrepentant eunuch on the loose
season's over yay. except for memes and hot takes i don't have to think about this any more for awhile

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Monday, 28 August 2017 03:17 (six years ago) link

i thought a lot of that episode was good.

i understand the eyerolls at the sidequest to get the wight but i thought the payoff in kings landing was compelling. and i enjoy jaime's continued arc, seeming to head toward redemption by finally fucking off from cersei's weird games.

i didn't realize that a weakness of the wall, made of ice, is dragon ice, but oh well.

Karl Malone, Monday, 28 August 2017 03:25 (six years ago) link

oh, and i meant to mention, cersei's secret decision to betray daenerys and jon snow (and jaime) by making a false promise to send troops north was gripping - deceitful, flying in the face of honor, and true to character.

given that the wall has already been breached, though, kings landing may be the best defenses left standing?

Karl Malone, Monday, 28 August 2017 03:30 (six years ago) link

The dragon doesn't shoot ice, it's just White Walker brand PANTONE 13-5414 TPX Ice Green tinted fire.

Evan, Monday, 28 August 2017 03:47 (six years ago) link

They should all just cut their losses and move to Braavos?

Evan, Monday, 28 August 2017 03:48 (six years ago) link

The Littlefinger scene was good.

earlnash, Monday, 28 August 2017 03:49 (six years ago) link

yeah i thought the littlefinger scene was good

i had sort of expected the death toll was going to be LF + one of the Stark sisters, and while i'm glad that it was just him, i can't help but feel that both of the starks surviving is a departure from the early seasons. also expected that jamie would get merc'd somehow just before arriving in winterfell and completing his redemptive arc (though this could still happen)

gbx, Monday, 28 August 2017 04:14 (six years ago) link

I thought this was a great episode

And how cersei's deceit contrasts with Jon's inconvenient honesty was really well played

And I was happy with how the arya-sansa rift played out even if I thought they did a mediocre job of selling us on it (again I guess that's plot points out of process, but building these characters for hours and hours of development really helps you paper over flubs later on)

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Monday, 28 August 2017 04:26 (six years ago) link

I guess the theon fight scene was a little goofy (there's a king of the hill episode it reminded me of, lol) but I thought that was a good development for his character arc however handled

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Monday, 28 August 2017 04:27 (six years ago) link

To clarify I mean the build up of the arya-sansa "rift" was mediocre but the payoff was well executed

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Monday, 28 August 2017 04:27 (six years ago) link

I'm a little surprised the Mountain didn't kill anyone this episode

El Tomboto, Monday, 28 August 2017 04:28 (six years ago) link

And that should have read "plot points *over* process"

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Monday, 28 August 2017 04:28 (six years ago) link

fuck yeah that was dope

i laughed so hard when littlefinger got it, that end-around was so good

sam's indulgent "oh really? that's nice, dear" expression to Bran was so fkn gold I want to frame it

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 28 August 2017 04:31 (six years ago) link

cersei is cersei-ing harder than she has ever cersei-d now & i love her for it. dad would be proud of her psychotic vengefulness

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 28 August 2017 04:33 (six years ago) link

brianne & the hound having a parental moment recapping arya together was p great

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 28 August 2017 04:34 (six years ago) link

i thought the king's landing stuff was pretty deftly handled. cersei's plan isn't without merits, i imagine she may survive the war up north and live to fight another day. and this sets the stage for an actual high stakes Clegane-off.

littlefinger's end was satisfying, though a bit telegraphed. w/seven episodes left they also wouldn't have had time to deal with the repercussions of sansa or arya killing the other, plus LF's whole plan was predicated on them not really having a serious talk with Bran about how he's into weirdness now.

was worried for a min once we saw tormund and beric making a run for it but we never saw them die, which means they survived.

nomar, Monday, 28 August 2017 05:55 (six years ago) link

what's interesting with littlefinger is that he's stayed relatively still, in winterfell, for so long, which seems like a death sentence for a conniver like him

Karl Malone, Monday, 28 August 2017 06:02 (six years ago) link

Bran's powers finally showing some usefulness but still creepy: massive lols at him explaining Jon's lineage over visuals of Targaryen incest.

Roz, Monday, 28 August 2017 06:43 (six years ago) link

I doubt I'll go out of my way to watch next season. Other than a handful of scenes I was underwhelmed by this.

Eallach mhór an duine leisg (dowd), Monday, 28 August 2017 07:21 (six years ago) link

Weird take lol why make it this far & not find out what happens... the show could be considerably worse than it has been & id still check it

Agree that the arya /Sansa plot line was kind of a wonky one to last a whole season

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Monday, 28 August 2017 08:12 (six years ago) link

I'm sure when they arrive at Winterfell and find Jon is the real heir to the throne Dany will just accept it with complete equanimity. especially now that they've boned.
