obsidian is pretty fragile in real life, yeah? Fractures easily. Maybe DRAGONGLASS is much more durable and steel-like

Melisandre: alive, number of dead smoke babies 0 of 1

Why didn't Hilary send her dragons to Wisconsin

I Love You, Fancybear (symsymsym), Tuesday, 22 August 2017 02:29 (six years ago) link

and then with no lead up she's suddenly super hot for jon snow

the only way they could have done more lead-up for this would be if it had a scene of her in her quarters with posters of jon snow everywhere, and she then turned to the camera and said "yes, i am hot for jon snow" - they've prob had to set aside about 5/6 minutes of her staring lovingly at him since clarke's face-acting is so inefficient.

imagining grrm watching the show, burning his scripts for the next book and writing down just a minute by minute of this series

nxd, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 08:31 (six years ago) link

Cracking #ladsontour action in the first half of that episode, but they seemed to be hammering home how stupid everyone was supposed to be, which is the only thing that can explain allowing one of your number to freeze to death WHEN YOU HAVE A FUCKING FIRE SWORD or not even trying to melt the ice the zombies were walking over WHEN YOU HAVE A FUCKING FIRE SWORD.

Amazing that, having just fought an undead bear, the zombie dragon thing didn't seem to occur to anyone at all, including Jon Snow, the first person it would have occurred to.

Awesome and dumb episode anyway. They were definitely trolling with Sansa talking about the distance to King's Landing in the same episode. I dunno, maybe dragons are just really fast, who cares.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 08:57 (six years ago) link

How does a really fast dragon protect its rider. I thought people thought that if you went over 25 miles per hour it would be fatal or at least very unhealthy..
But how secure is a rider at top speed. Is she secured by the ridges etc on the dragon's back like? & does that protect her head too?

Stevolende, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 09:10 (six years ago) link

the point at which things get dangerous must be a lot higher than 25mph or cycling would be a lot of bother

ogmor, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 09:15 (six years ago) link

i don't care about the logistics of getting from a to b - i definitely agree tho that they fucked around with nothing happening except in the first and final two episodes of each season for about 2/3 seasons, saving all the actual events until the end, and probably did a really bad job of balancing that.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 22 August 2017 09:17 (six years ago) link

^^^ Agree with that, they're overcompensating for all those endless tedious scenes of Dany pardoning/executing peasants or Arya fighting people with sticks.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 10:16 (six years ago) link

But those were the best scenes :(

Frederik B, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 10:57 (six years ago) link

This show sould just embrace its absurdity and have The A-Team turn up in their van next time Jon Snow & co. find the odds heavily stacked against them in battle

Well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Tuesday, 22 August 2017 12:19 (six years ago) link

At this stage, more than previous seasons, it's very difficult to imagine one of the big characters being killed off. Maybe one of Jaime or Cersei but otherwise?

Matt DC, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 12:32 (six years ago) link

Varys?
They hinted at it in that convo with Mel

President Keyes, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 12:42 (six years ago) link

maybe she meant of old age, a long way in the future

nxd, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 12:44 (six years ago) link

Varys is second-tier as far as the cast go, lots of characters at his level could be killed off, but it would be a big shock to lose one of the remaining Lannisters or Starks at this point, let alone Dany.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 12:47 (six years ago) link

once they don't kill off ned again

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 22 August 2017 12:51 (six years ago) link

thought it was strange that they brought in sean bean to play viserion, feels like it could get confusing

sean bean was 3 of the redshirt wildlings killed this week, so he's getting a lot of work

President Keyes, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 13:18 (six years ago) link

The lord of light must have a plan for him

Evan, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 13:29 (six years ago) link

spoiler alert i guess but it has been m/l established for certain that ned was a faceless man. as i see it there are 2 directions they might be taking this. the first is that ned switched faces with littlefinger and littlefinger was executed and ned is still littlefinger. the second is that ned switched faces with littlefinger and littlefinger was executed and now ned is every character. now that we know the cast list for the final season is just sean bean i am leaning towards the latter.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 13:34 (six years ago) link

night king sounds like "ned king" a bit.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 22 August 2017 13:36 (six years ago) link

It's even more impressive since Sean Bean died in 2013. He must have filmed all these scenes in advance.

President Keyes, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 13:37 (six years ago) link

it was a nice touch calling the guy on the horse at the end "uncle bean"

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 22 August 2017 13:49 (six years ago) link

my wife has been trying to convince me about this "ned is a faceless man" stuff but I just don't buy it..

Here's an "ask the expert" style fun fact for you casual viewers out there:

Ned Bean's character Sean is actually missing not just his face but his entire head, putting him at a elite level that Arya may never reach without formal training. We'll see if she gets there!

Evan, Tuesday, 22 August 2017 15:01 (six years ago) link

this is p funny

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 22 August 2017 15:34 (six years ago) link

what if a faceless woman with terminal cancer volunteered to take ned's place?

reggie (qualmsley), Tuesday, 22 August 2017 15:35 (six years ago) link

OMG re that "Ned aint ded" theory:
And this would make sense, because there are a number of clues in the books that point toward Ned's body looking different after he was executed. Sansa points out that the head on the Red Keep doesn't look like her father's, and Catelyn Stark notes that his bones look smaller.

And in a recent episode Sansa and Arya looked at his statue in the crypt and scoffed "they couldnt even get his face right" or something similar.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Tuesday, 22 August 2017 23:14 (six years ago) link

Didn't Nedfinger kiss Sansa a couple of seasons ago before handing her over to Bolton?

louie mensch (milo z), Tuesday, 22 August 2017 23:17 (six years ago) link

Front page of yahoo is always pretty amazing for "this new fan theory about game of thrones will blow your mind" posts.

The one I saw today was that Gendry was actually the son of Robert and Cersei and the "baby who looked like Robert" hadn't died but his death was faked by her.
