the episode preview at the end of the credits has them running back at a full sprint, hard to see how they can beat the white walker zerglings

they got like three episodes worth of bran in a sled being pulled by holdor outrunning white walkres though so who knows

hmmm, if I'm fighting the white walkers, i stand about 10 feet out into the water and throw dragonglass at them

[qyburn sees fast approaching white walker horde] i know... giant crossbow with piece of dragonglass glued to the arrow

the whole jon/dragon scene was p funny. i guess it wasn't intentional but when dany said, all proud and beaming "i consider them my children" and jon snow just did this look that was like "eh, okay, moving on..."

what was with qyburn getting sickburned by jaime twice in the last episode? ok, not sickburned, i guess, but qyburn would be like "hi-yeeeeee jaime!" and jaime would be like "i'm on my way to make out with my sister, i cannot talk"

first I thought qyburn was up to something nefarious but later I thought he was consulting cersei about her pregnancy and jaime was like "what's this guy always doing around?" and qyburn was like "oh boy I know a secret!"

the most nutso fun plot scenario is for one of the 7 samurai to be wightified (Jorah most likely) then, when brought to show the queen(s), for one of them (Cersei) to be wightified herself.

if jorah becomes wightified hes just that guy in your party who always becomes inflicted with status ailments and you dont want to waste anymore fenix downs to cure him

i don't think there's enough time for much in the way of machinations and loyalty-switching at this stage of the game, it seems to be like the rest of it will be a pretty straightforward run: finishing off the conflicts south of the wall, uneasy alliances in order to defeat the Night King's army of the undead after that. my only theory is that at some point next season Cersei will become the Night Queen, just a full evil power-up. But that might be too ridiculous...maybe.

Not only that, surely his lineage could come in useful somehow. Like if he married Dany to combine the Targaryen and Baratheon dynasties.

what is there to like about arya? she's let vengeance take over her life, she was shown to have some empathy early on but by this point has killed dozens if not hundreds of people and seems to really enjoy it. she's self-righteous, self-involved and is now looking v greasy

more interesting as a character than she was previously. tbf she did see hundreds of men taunting her brother's corpse with a wolf's head rammed onto it, afair

Yes to all of Ogmor's points, yet I for one still root for her.

she's more straightforward and less conflicted than ever. I'm sure there'll be some big change/crisis but for now she's awful

I don't think Arya is particularly flawed next to the other characters. She's been alone a long time and I don't think her being self-involved has hurt anyone?

I can't think of any other character who has made murder their life's purpose in the same way

i like Arya a lot and this transition to cold-blooded, single minded avenging assassin has been setting itself up for seasons. this is about where she should be rn.

she might be a little zzz at the moment, but most of these character are this season tbh.

For me shes stepped over the line as a character. If Sansa and LF murked her right now i'd be satisfied.

i guess the book Gilly was reading could have gone on to mention a child, but it still wouldn't have been obvious, right?

Nah. In that the interesting thing about her character was the struggle between her desire for vengeance and her humanity. The assassin side has basically won, and there's really not enough time left for her to take a believable turn. I'm sure they'll put her in some kind of bullshit redemptive storyline now, but for me her arc could be seen as complete and she could be killed off now. She won't be, because of fan expectations.

he'd probably have been more interested if he heard the name Lyanna Stark, but he didn't and he still doesn't know that she's Jon's mother. The point of the scene was establishing Jon's claim to the throne, so I'm sure it'll come up again at an opportune moment

Dany will find out before Jon and have to decide whether to kill him, probably.

In a different mood Sam might have twigged that this was potentially massive re: the succession to the throne (and y'know the entire ongoing war) and followed up on it, but he wasn't even listening.

The show seems to be making a point that most of the characters we previously rooted for are being taken over by hubris now they actually have some power - Dany, Arya, Sansa to an extent. The Arya stuff seems to make sense but I think Littlefinger is one step ahead of her for now, although there's probably some kind of face switching coming up.

Have they really given any thought into how they're going to bring this White Walker back? Like it might have occurred to someone to at least bring something to restrain them with.

maybe they fashioned some handcuffs out of the dragonglass they mined
