NotEnough, can you check in settings which version you have? Version 1.10 should have a scroll bar on the right side when reading a thread (small, only appears when scrolling.)

just my two cents, but I'd prefer clicking bookmark on a thread did not automatically send me back to the list of bookmarks - it's something my thumb does while my eyes are still reading the bottom couple of posts. maybe it could be made optional?

The app shouldn't break after changing networks any more, so hopefully needing to restart it is a thing of the past. Fixed all bugs with threads not loading that I know about, let me know if I missed any.

I've been unable to post from Flagging this afternoon. Not sure when the last time I successfully posted the app was though. Every time I clicked on the little icon to make a post, it would close the app, including after I saw your post above.

What's the current version? I'm on 1.12...

Just rolled out 1.14 which should fix your problem, HL. Might take a couple hours to be available.

fixed the posting bug for me!

Same here. Thanks!

Just updated(!) and yeah would love it if this could be optional as I'm experiencing the same...
― kinder, Saturday, 23 September 2017 09:55 (six years ago) link
I adore the fact that you click on a bookmark and it takes you back to the list of bookmarks. Making it optional so I can keep this behaviour would be cool.
― barbarian radge (NotEnough), Saturday, 23 September 2017 16:43 (six years ago) link
haha i'm now actually kind of used to it so yeah i stand behind the idea of making it optional :D
but i stand behind adding search, full list of one's bookmarks, some kind of Control-F, and Flag Post as the most critical features missing, versus desktop ILX. still a hell of an app, gets that low-impact ILX vibe totally.
― Doctor Casino, Saturday, 23 September 2017 16:54 (six years ago) link
not supporting flag post yet is kinda hilarious
― Uhura Mazda (lukas), Saturday, 23 September 2017 19:20 (six years ago) link
Hmm - any way this could be jiggered to include sticky top-level announcements, like the current one for the annual hosting fundraiser?
― Doctor Casino, Saturday, 21 October 2017 13:59 (six years ago) link
i imagine the testing of that will be difficult, given how rare they are.
(best take some screenshots and grab the html source now!)

(for reference it's a 'sitemessage' div between the 'menubar' div and the 'bookmarks' div)

Thanks both, seems manageable.

lukas, any possibility of putting the code on Github? I've been trying to teach myself Android development.

bug report: currently-running polls don't display the identity of the OP (tho concluded ones do), making it look like the first responder is the OP finishing a thought under the poll options. really threw me just now on a horrible thread where it seemed totally out of character...

While you are updating: would it be possible to remove the title of the last visited bookmark when there are no more unread bookmarks?
― ArchCarrier, Friday, 10 November 2017 22:13 (six years ago) link
deleted threads persist in board lists/sna as well as bookmark. can't remove them from the latter by the long-press method (get "server error" pop-up message).
― Doctor Casino, Sunday, 12 November 2017 14:30 (six years ago) link
yeah same here.
― kinder, Sunday, 12 November 2017 17:57 (six years ago) link
opened flagging for the first time in a week and bookmarks appeared for every single bookmarked thread that had been updated since then. these bookmarks now exist in other browsers as well and have to be cleared/updated one by one
― mookieproof, Thursday, 18 January 2018 21:37 (six years ago) link
Isn't that the way bookmarks work?
― ArchCarrier, Friday, 19 January 2018 13:45 (six years ago) link
you dan't do this in Flagging, but in a browser go to Bookmarks. You can mass-delete bookmarks from there.
― e-woke (NotEnough), Friday, 19 January 2018 14:15 (six years ago) link
mookie's wording is a little confusing but I THINK what's being referred to is the bug discussed upthread, where on browsers on the same device, the top of SNA is piled high with pages and pages of "updated" bookmarks for threads you've long since caught up on in flagging or on your desktop. it's really weird tbh.

yeah, this

I have this issue on both flagging and regular ILX on my work computer. Don't have this on my phone or home computer.
― Moodles, Friday, 19 January 2018 19:22 (six years ago) link
for me, flagging is always up to date, but since I started using it, using ilx in-browser on my phone (really only necessary due to lack of search function, bookmark-browsing, and control-F) has been suffering this problem. super weird.
― Righteous wax chaperone, rotating Wingdings (Doctor Casino), Friday, 19 January 2018 19:38 (six years ago) link
Same, I just choose to use my chrome browser instead. Don't know what keeps it from syncing across devices. This was a problem before flagging.
― Moodles, Friday, 19 January 2018 20:50 (six years ago) link
Strangely, that doesn't happen with me at all- bookmarks sync perfectly across flagging/phone chrome/desktop chrome.
― e-woke (NotEnough), Friday, 19 January 2018 22:20 (six years ago) link
Yeah, same here.
― ArchCarrier, Saturday, 20 January 2018 06:30 (six years ago) link
a new wrinkle: flagging isn't picking up that i changed my display name over in browser land. or perhaps ilx isn't telling itself that the DN is different anywhere besides this phone's browser. but... why would that be?
― if you steeleye spanshine (Doctor Casino), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 16:13 (six years ago) link

Just wondering: why doesn't Flagging use the bookmark function to load threads? Very long threads (for example, 'pitchfork is dumb') take a long time to load in Flagging, while it's instantaneous in a browser.
― ArchCarrier, Monday, 19 February 2018 13:25 (six years ago) link
Hi. I released a thing with some tweaks. If anyone is encountering bugs with posting, I'm eager to hear about it.
AC, are you loading the pitchfork thread from SNA or bookmarks?
― Uhura Mazda (lukas), Monday, 5 March 2018 02:28 (six years ago) link
Thanks for all the work you're putting into this!
- where do I click to go to the top of a thread? (new feature?)
- sometimes, threads just don't load - today, I haven't been able to open "Talking Heads - Classic or Dud?" at all. Spinning wheel & there it hangs forever. Cleaning cache, restarting phone, uninstalling the app & reinstalling, wifi at work, mobile data everywhere, wifi at home: nothing. And tomorrow (or next time I try, it'll probably just open as if nothing happened. Okay, it's Android 8.1.0 now, but even when I wasn't in the beta program I had this sometimes.
― StanM, Monday, 5 March 2018 15:46 (six years ago) link
For tap to top, scroll up a bit until the thread title appears, then tap it. You can also tap on tabs for SNA / Bookmarks / Boards to go to the top of those lists.Every thread failing to load (so far) has been the server spitting out XML a little differently than I expected. Will take a look at that one.
― Uhura Mazda (lukas), Monday, 5 March 2018 20:47 (six years ago) link
Hmm I see the issue now with threads loaded from bookmarks loading the whole world :( will take a look at that too.

Okay, I have a comment - when I have my tablet in landscape, I can't bookmark a post - the Send, Browser, Bookmark links are not visible. In portrait mode, they are. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8, Android 7.1.1. The add new post + sign is visible in landscape mode.
