this weekend's Test Pressing show on NTS. These are always good but the one for August was exceptional I thought. No tracklisting up yet which is frustrating.

the new bjørn torske and prins thomas LP is pretty sick tyte, i'm listening to it a lot... so far only groovypanda's mentioned it on the lindstrom & prins thomas thread i think. maybe torske deserves more shine. seems like he's been a really big influence in norway's disco scene and still making great music

don't think it's been mentioned but this Antinote compilation is really good - a little outside this thread's remit at times but mostly on the flutes and pads side of balearic electronics.

boxedjoy, Friday, 18 August 2017 19:06 (six years ago) link

Torske is great. I still listen to this Nordic Chill mix he did for DJ Mag in 03.

Chee Shimizu's live mix on this Music From Memory compilation is really good, I always think of the label primarily in terms of the ambient stuff they release so to hear a proper mix that you can actually dance to is fun.

a lot of the mixes the guys behind it do are more uptempo.

LG you're always listening to good mixes of this stuff, point me towards something similarly uptempo and brilliant you've had on recently please

boxedjoy, Monday, 11 September 2017 20:00 (six years ago) link

I made a mix this weekend using mostly vinyl but some digital files. https://www.mixcloud.com/biznotic/expand-and-expand/

u bros up on charlotte adigéry? her 12" and garrett's 'private life' are my too big balearic discoveries this summer

I love that Charlotte Adigery, "Senegal Seduction" is the one

enjoyed that mix brotherlovesdub, that Oktoberklubben track really reminds me of Studio.

boxedjoy, Tuesday, 12 September 2017 11:41 (six years ago) link

Yeah, The Oktoberklubben is so good. I'm tempted to buy another copy before the 300 pressed are all gone.

brotherlovesdub, Tuesday, 12 September 2017 15:35 (six years ago) link

Thanks for listening! It's not a great mix technically, levels are off due to going back and forth between vinyl and digital, but the songs are good.

brotherlovesdub, Tuesday, 12 September 2017 15:36 (six years ago) link

@ boxedjoy - sure - this one is from last year but prob one of my favourite mixes in recent years. jamie tiller is one of the music from memory guys: https://soundcloud.com/dkmntl/orpheu-the-wizard-jamie-tiller-at-lente-kabinet-festival-28052016

there are prob more where that came from. maybe the trujillo mix from brilliant corners too, tho it's a little less obscure: https://www.mixcloud.com/BrilliantCorners/trujillos-cosmic-caribe-300517/

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 13 September 2017 09:54 (six years ago) link

there are so many amazing mixes of free music that fit this thread - brilliant corners' mixcloud alone is full of these huge mixes.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 13 September 2017 09:56 (six years ago) link

Spiritland's Mixcloud feed is similarly packed with down-tempo goodness: https://www.mixcloud.com/Spiritland/

André Ryu (Neil S), Wednesday, 13 September 2017 10:05 (six years ago) link

Listening to Chris Coco from Spiritland now. It's quite good, and especially nice considering he doesn't talk. I regularly listen to Melodica, but his voice is even more annoying than Mary Ann Hobbes.

brotherlovesdub, Wednesday, 13 September 2017 16:32 (six years ago) link

i prob posted this before but this one is a real odyssey: https://soundcloud.com/johngomezldn/john-gomez-jamie-tiller-at-brilliant-corners

i like this comp a lot but it's just not the same as what he plays when you see him. i guess it's good he keeps this divide but still.

This came up on shuffle on the way to work this morning but I have no idea where I got it from. Sounds like something Harvey might play so possibly that.

Great track though

Found it on my hardrive now in a folder called Loft Classics and dated 15 November 2016 so assume it was just after Mancuso died and everyone was posting their favourite tracks on FB

Didn't realise there was a new The Swan and The Lake album released earlier this year. Bit more minimal and new agey in parts but still very, very good

I've wondered about this one for quite a while and up it pops with a 2017 reissue. I haven't heard the rest of the LP yet. Genre names are for the birds and insects but it can go here

Usual mix of stuff posted in this thread and other gems that went under the radar.
