crushed to realize this thread was pre-emptively ruined by my horrible 2011 user name

Might change the soundtrack slightly but I would give anything to be home from work with a pot of coffee on a rainy day rn

Pretty much all I want in life

brimstead, Wednesday, 31 July 2019 22:05 (six months ago) link

It was beautiful out today but this thread description is so appealing that I kind of want it to rain so I can listen to dubby ron and/or chez tracks at a cafe (including but not limited to their I'm Your Brother remix)

chez n trent 4 ever.. except for some recent ron trent that is super corny and bad imo. chez damier on the other hand still has the magic touch.

Might change the soundtrack slightly but I would give anything to be home from work with a pot of coffee on a rainy day rn

i'm really lucky to have a work-from-home gig and luckier still to have access to a week-long timeshare in the mountains that no one in my family can make it to

it was misty and rainy today and i got stoned after my 'work' and brought my headphones and iphone to the condo hot tub with a view of the mountains and listened to rhythm & sound while soaking, and this morning i went on a sick trail run, it was a great day. too many kids around but how can i complain really.

hi marcos hows your summer going?

cheese canopy (map), Thursday, 1 August 2019 02:41 (six months ago) link

hi maps! my summer is.... mixed? i feel a little manic with all the sun here in july, no rainy day house for me because it is like the first month of the year here when it is not raining everyday so instead i am listening to windows open on a summer morning house, this mix i listened to this morning was so good ~~~~ https://www.nts.live/shows/bubbles/episodes/bubbles-29th-july-2019 ~~~~~

marcos, Thursday, 1 August 2019 18:37 (six months ago) link

mixed bc low-level mania can be euphoric and fun but very quickly the exhaustion comes around

thx for the link!

here's a fun poem:

Peanut Butter
By Eileen Myles
I am always hungry
& wanting to have
sex. This is a fact.
If you get right
down to it the new
unprocessed peanut
butter is no damn
good & you should
buy it in a jar as
always in the
largest supermarket
you know. And
I am an enemy
of change, as
you know. All
the things I
embrace as new
are in
fact old things,
re-released: swimming,
the sensation of
being dirty in
body and mind
summer as a
time to do
nothing and make
no money. Prayer
as a last re-
sort. Pleasure
as a means,
and then a
means again
with no ends
in sight. I am
absolutely in opposition
to all kinds of
goals. I have
no desire to know
where this, anything
is getting me.
When the water
boils I get
a cup of tea.
Accidentally I
read all the
works of Proust.
It was summer
I was there
so was he. I
write because
I would like
to be used for
years after
my death. Not
only my body
will be compost
but the thoughts
I left during
my life. During
my life I was
a woman with
hazel eyes. Out
the window
is a crooked
silo. Parts
of your
body I think
of as stripes
which I have
learned to
love along. We
swim naked
in ponds &
I write be-
hind your
back. My thoughts
about you are
not exactly
forbidden, but
exalted because
they are useless,
not intended
to get you
because I have
you & you love
me. It’s more
like a playground
where I play
with my reflection
of you until
you come back
and into the
real you I
get to sink
my teeth. With
you I know how
to relax. &
so I work
behind your
back. Which
is lovely.
is out of control
you tell me &
that’s what’s so
good about
it. I’m immoderately
in love with you,
knocked out by
all your new
white hair

why shouldn’t
I have always
known be the
very best there
is. I love
you from my
starting back
there when
one day was
just like the
rest, random
growth and
breezes, constant
love, a sand-
wich in the
middle of
a tiny step
in the vastly
path of
the Sun. I
squint. I
wink. I
take the

what were the first couple tracks posted in this thread? they're not on youtube any more. i'm totally going for a "sorrow and a cup of joe" vibe today.

Theme from using a rainy day during a vacation to rest up in a coffee shop, casually catching up on work in a way that doesn't feel like work.
