Superb last scene for her though, mostly down to Cersei, but what was the point of the whole Dorne plotline if that's the end of it? Either that or the showrunners finally admitted it was a turkey and did the decent thing.

why would that be the end of it? even during the scene i thought it was incredibly silly of cersei to assume that not killing her enemy would mean eternal imprisonment, in a world with a diff king/queen every five minutes.

Robin will come and save her in the knick of time or she'll use her bat-chain puller or something.

I liked the JRPG busywork bit where Jon is advised to have conversations with the townsfolk to find out more about Dany or whatever

Then subsequent teasing of a mission where Dany must ride out on a dragon and destroy 8/8 enemy boats

imo talking to everyone in town is like a JRPG, but destroying 8/8 enemy boats is more like a western RPG. maybe the writers were trying to symbolize the meeting of essos and westeros in the show

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 15:53 (six years ago) link

The dialogue is so lazy now in this last episode; the characters kept using anachronistic phrases (the last I remember was "failure of imagination") that made it seem like the writers aren't putting much effort anymore.

why did that tree have a face? is that just supposed to be in Bran's weirdo 3 eyed raven world or what?

akm, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 18:59 (six years ago) link

that tree has always had a face.

sarahell, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 19:04 (six years ago) link

The Trees with faces are holy for the old gods, who the North still believe in

Speaking of Robin, what happened to everyone from the Vale?

Frederik B, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 19:05 (six years ago) link

they're still at winterfell. It was one of the Vale Lords who got schooled by Sansa re: leather linings on the breastplates.

This thread is like a GoT bucket brigade where everyone fills in each other with the details they missed while they were tweeting or taking a piss break during the episode.

Isn't that most of the tv series threads?

Robert Adam Gilmour, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 19:45 (six years ago) link

mostly they're all "this show isn't as good as it was in season (x)" repeated to infinity

President Keyes, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 19:47 (six years ago) link

really enjoyed bran's return. how could we string out a few eps of familial awkwardness if they didn't begin the reunion with him telling his sister "hi - btw i lack all self-awareness and am insane now. also i think you're sexy"

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 1 August 2017 20:01 (six years ago) link

"I can see all things happening at the same time, but right now I'm trying to just focus on watching my sisters get dressed."

President Keyes, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 20:04 (six years ago) link

"i need you to ignore my deep power and wisdom until some huge event in six episodes, so for now let's just assume i'm a weird creep"

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 1 August 2017 20:06 (six years ago) link

I understand it's a complicated web of characters and elements but sometimes it's funny to see someone notice that those particular trees have faces for the first time in 7 seasons, then the person who explains it has their own question about the whereabouts of characters that were in the episode.

Sean Bean was good as the Tree Face

President Keyes, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 20:07 (six years ago) link

One of the only things I came to enjoy about this show, relatively speaking, is that every clan/group/family seems to have its own god/magic - and they're all right!

What did Bran actually say? Wasn't it something about her looking beautiful in a wedding dress? Was it a future vision? Does he see the future?

Robert Adam Gilmour, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 20:36 (six years ago) link

Something about her looking beautiful in her dress the night Ramsay raped her.

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 1 August 2017 20:37 (six years ago) link

you looked really pretty in your wedding dress. sorry you got raped and that it happened here where we grew up.

now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to sit out here for a while longer by the tree face that lets me revisit more memories

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 20:41 (six years ago) link

apparently Bran's capacity to see into the future and apply that knowledge to the present day is limited, as he failed to take note of the concepts of trauma and triggering.

sarahell, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 20:41 (six years ago) link

"you looked so pretty when you died"

President Keyes, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 20:43 (six years ago) link

It kinda makes sense for Bran to go this route. Need to be left alone to do all the ravening. Can't do it north of the Wall now. People won't understand the need for solitude so just mention stuff that makes them want to keep their distance.

nashwan, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 21:07 (six years ago) link

another technique he could try, though, would be to tell sansa what his deal is, and then occasionally be like "i'm going to go do my raven thing alone, now" and then she'd be like "it's ok for you to do that. i will see you tomorrow"

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 21:09 (six years ago) link

Hey, how hard is it to say, "There was one guy who used to be the Three Eyed Raven, he trained me and now I'm the Three Eyed Raven, btw ur mortal sense of time is quaint."

Leee Media Naranja (Leee), Tuesday, 1 August 2017 21:28 (six years ago) link

half of GoT's drama comes from people hinting at things and never finishing their thought, or never saying what they're thinking. so there's a lot of misunderstanding, like I'm pretty sure jon snow is the king of this, he silently simmered and brooded his away into an assassination at the Wall.

nomar, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 21:31 (six years ago) link

Because it's not that SIMPLE! He is the three eyed raven! He always was!
