It was an exciting game!

ah man i fucking love watching gaa on rte - such a wave of nostalgia for ireland
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 July 2017 16:47 (six years ago) link
It's a brilliant service there's no doubt
― jk rowling obituary thread (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 July 2017 16:48 (six years ago) link
might get the season pass. it cost fucking 14 euro to watch that. it's 99 for the whole season. caught between a rock and a hard place really.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 July 2017 16:50 (six years ago) link
That's expensive alright
Here lads the game wasn't as bad as the Kerry one, that was total shite
― Well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Sunday, 30 July 2017 16:53 (six years ago) link
i was in bed for that one. late night. i still wouldn't write mayo off - they were mostly shite last year until the final.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 July 2017 16:57 (six years ago) link
I was watching from the pov of wanting one team to string a fucking attack together
When you see gaa teams and they're completely unable to use space or make a decent decision in a move you wonder what the fuck training sessions are for and what they select fellas based on. There isn't ten players in the country with the brain to play lower league soccer in England imo

o'rourke/brolly/spillane are fucking gas old codgers xpost

Roch out!
― jk rowling obituary thread (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 July 2017 17:09 (six years ago) link
I love the Brolly - Spillane dynamic. Brolly - "Best to stay silent when we see just how static Roscommon are here" - 5 second silence before Spillane squeals in his Kerry tone - "THEY'RE NOT MOOOOVING!"
― Well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Sunday, 30 July 2017 17:25 (six years ago) link
the bit at the end where o'rourke made some joke and they were all about to lose their shit laughing, great telly.

Best for all concerned we end this now

Blow it up ref. Underneath those jerseys they're still men for god's sake.

The Monday Game
― Well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Monday, 7 August 2017 18:45 (six years ago) link
Kept meaning to go down to that rough-as-fuck pub just up the road from me that shows GAA every Sunday, however the Premier League's starting up again so I suppose it'll be fucking Arsenal from now on.
― weird echo of the falsies (Tom D.), Monday, 7 August 2017 23:26 (six years ago) link
wtf happened the rossies? i was in work yesterday so i missed it. mayo are going to give kerry a game aren't they? just don't bother turning up until the semi-finals.
tyrone could trouble dublin too if we're as wasteful as we were on saturday.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 8 August 2017 08:45 (six years ago) link
Think we'll get battered but hey this could be the year seeing as no hype
― jk rowling obituary thread (darraghmac), Tuesday, 8 August 2017 11:54 (six years ago) link
last year was p similar to this though i guess - same stumbling route through. they must be a bit tired tho. is the kerry game this weekend?
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 8 August 2017 11:57 (six years ago) link
Fortnight. And I in Milton keynes
― jk rowling obituary thread (darraghmac), Tuesday, 8 August 2017 12:34 (six years ago) link
i'll be in nyc. not paying 20 dollars to watch gaa at 10am, even the dubs.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 8 August 2017 12:35 (six years ago) link
aidan o'shea playing at full-back! i don't care that they're 1-1 to zero up - that is fucking madness.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Sunday, 20 August 2017 14:39 (six years ago) link
As I said, I'm only getting scores relayed to me.
What dyou care for Aidan o Shea anyway!
― jk rowling obituary thread (darraghmac), Sunday, 20 August 2017 14:55 (six years ago) link
true enough but if he's actually supposed to be a key player then you can't move him to full-back. donaghy isn't even kerry's best forward.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Sunday, 20 August 2017 15:15 (six years ago) link
this game is fucking nuts
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Sunday, 20 August 2017 15:43 (six years ago) link
knife-edge doesn't even describe this.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Sunday, 20 August 2017 16:04 (six years ago) link
what a match, fucking hell. thus ends my liveblog.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Sunday, 20 August 2017 16:15 (six years ago) link
mayo love the drama!
German gone what's happenwd
― jk rowling obituary thread (darraghmac), Sunday, 20 August 2017 16:24 (six years ago) link
mayo equalised in injury-time. huge back and forth game, mayo were three up a few times, kerry two or three up at times. kerry missed a (long) free at the death.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Sunday, 20 August 2017 16:39 (six years ago) link
so a replay.
Ffs
Spurs and mayo. Maybe I'm the problem
― jk rowling obituary thread (darraghmac), Sunday, 20 August 2017 16:40 (six years ago) link
definitely should have won today but in the final minutes were lucky to draw

I think this is the year tbh
― passé aggresif (darraghmac), Saturday, 26 August 2017 16:29 (six years ago) link
well that was easy
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 26 August 2017 16:29 (six years ago) link
do you actually think it's the year?
Jesus it's a different game pitchside. Space just disappears.
Yeah. I think this is it. The journey has been so different to the usual and the focus and variety is there.
― passé aggresif (darraghmac), Saturday, 26 August 2017 16:30 (six years ago) link
The experience finally seems to be worth more than just lending an air of doom.
― passé aggresif (darraghmac), Saturday, 26 August 2017 16:31 (six years ago) link
wasn't it a kind of similar year to last year? like gradual improvement after early poor performances? i think kerry are actually shite so i'd be more worried from your pov. should have cunted them thusly the first day.
guess tomorrow's game is a factor, i have no idea what level tyrone are at yet, such is the nature of it. tbh tho it is hard to win 3 in a row, to not lose a game for 3 years. can't go on forever for the dubs, good and all as they look.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 26 August 2017 16:33 (six years ago) link
Other years it would've been about not having beaten Kerry at croker in two decades.
This time it was how to take them tactically, how to effect our own game to meet the Roscommon performance, no drama talk, no air of tragedy for the press. Business at the business end, like Dubs and Kerry assume as a matter of course.
XP I've only seen bits of Tyrone but people who know are telling me they are like hungry animals. Be a test I'd suspect.
― passé aggresif (darraghmac), Saturday, 26 August 2017 16:34 (six years ago) link
yeah i am fairly concerned about it - it's a pity there aren't more good teams, or even seeding, the whole thing is so badly weighted, easy games and then this huge leap into the unknown.
that's a good point about mayo tbf, there hasn't been the same level of cringey hoping, certainly not for the second game, the first there was a bit. but you know in the lead-up to the final all that entitled shite will be back, even if it's driven by the media it still seems to infect the team. the last day the game was there to be won and they just would not take it. in the end kerry had a free on halfway which they panicked over and kicked to themselves, leading to a mayo equaliser. maybe that's behind them now but i dunno.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 26 August 2017 16:40 (six years ago) link
on the free i mean barry john keane, i think, literally kicked it up in the air short and ended up having to touch it next himself, resulting in a mayo free
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 26 August 2017 16:41 (six years ago) link
As I said, the route this time may be the only difference. Could be that with it all cleared away the next three weeks could see a reversion, worth watching for.
Rochford has repurposed the whole team tho, each player a component, no stars, and the squad can play a few styles. Tricky decision going right, and real confidence you can draw from when things falter, not the brittle kidstuff we bit our lips for in other years.
I'm confident.

the first half was fucking unreal - the second half frustrated me a bit, but still, an incredibly easy win.
