x-posts: I think GRRM might be planning to do something like that in the books, but I don't think Benioff and Weiss understands what he's getting at. I read someone who said it felt as if the show was making Westeros 'safe for aristocracy', which seems correct.

given that there are only about half a dozen significant characters who aren't noble-born things don't seem well set up for sudden turn to democracy

In episode 1 of this season Jon Snow said: "I will not punish a son for his father's sins, and I will not take a family home away from a family it has belonged to for centuries" That made me think the show runners don't really get what GRRM is trying to say about feudal society.

Surprised at this expectancy that the show ends with the throne intact with a specific character on it. Surely its permanent destruction followed by a...Presidential election...is the more satisfying outcome.

Vehemently disagree. At the the last fight I was praying please just kill this tedious Kaiser Chiefs member quickly.

I know the show has had low points before and it was never going to completely recover but I have a bad feeling it's not going right itself again. Feel like it hit a new low.

Quite enjoyed the Sam, Jorah and Broadbent stuff though.

Feel a little annoyed that Dany's story will never pay off. She never got interesting and her settings were usually the least interesting part. Would be great if Varys kills her.

My prefferred ending: everyone goes into the final battle then it cuts away to Sam bonking Gilly and writing his own Kama Sutra for 6 episodes, then GRR Martin pops up and says "wait for my version, available at all good bookstores".

Anybody here really like Dany's scenes? I think her only interesting things was how she changed her relationship with Drogo and the dothraki tribe.

Rigg is great but even her powers couldn't save her scenes in this episode.

clarke is such a charisma vacuum and with each new character who is in her thrall it becomes more and more frustrating to me

I love Clarke, and think the Khaleesi's aloofness works just fine, but I get why people would disagree. Her attendant and Greyworm are similarly stilted.

In retrospect I'm disappointed that they took one of my favorite characters, Tyrion, and exiled him to the land of bad writing, acting, and set design. He even explicitly references his plight in that one scene where he tries to get them to drink and tell a funny story

I loved Littlefinger until the most recent episode. I mean he was always a manipulative dick, but now it's blatant and I'm fed up with his scenes glowering in the corner.

I kinda think they sold Littlefinger out when they had him deliver Sansa to Ramsay. That never made sense for the character, it undercut his arc, and he hasn't been able to really do anything since then.
