seriously, do these people only understand politics, science, and sociology at a kindergarten level?

Are you kidding? Have you read any of ethan's email threads?

Or even Townhall.com, where I get these things, or batshit message boards like Rapture Ready, LGF or Free Republic?

lol @ product placement

félix pié, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 18:32 (sixteen years ago) link

Part of the problem is that most media types don't really point this out. They run this false equivalence bullshit, where there is a far left and a far right that never change positions and we are objective, principled and removed observers are completely in the center. "Both sides do it" and "Michael Moore is the liberal version of Ann Coulter", etc. The Slacktivist guy best summed this up as "Broderian Cowardice"

SHE LOOKS SO HAPPY UNDER THAT BLACK GUY DRAWN AND VOICED BY A WHITE GUY'S FEET

Nah, I just took this as their attempt to do the "stop-motion riding your friend like a skateboard" vids that have been on youtube over the last two years.

kingfish, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 18:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh those French! Even their "Pro-America" president is a global warming hoax perpetuator!

Mike Dixn, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 18:57 (sixteen years ago) link

I had no idea that the pro/anti-america stance was what decided every single election on the fucking planet. thank you looney right wing cartoonists!

The liberal beaver is wishy-washy, conflicted, while the conservative beavers are stern and manly.

Mike Dixn, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 19:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Somebody wore went at the conservative beaver's faces with a cheese grater.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 19:30 (sixteen years ago) link

The liberal beaver also has dilated bug eyes.

C. Grisso/McCain, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 19:32 (sixteen years ago) link

haws haws! Damn that free market capitalism and media deregulation! Always telling us news we don't want to know! If only Rupert Murdoch was allowed control of more tv channels, it'd end this celebrity-obsessed, ratings-bent and profit-driven 24/7 news thing right quick!

[link buhhhhh][Removed Illegal Link]

let's just ignore the thousands of murders perpetrated by "actual" americans every year, and how, statistically, immigrants are no more likely to kill than native-born americans

editorial cartoons get a pass on being awful, because they're all awful - left right and center.
some of these others are badly written but seem to have the basic concept of cartooning down

But Day By Day just makes me want to throw things. I feel dumber every time I wind up looking at one.

I think he could make a whole series of these: "If Fort Dix was guarded by Ziggy"
"If Fort Dix was guarded by a team of trained chimps"
"If Fort Dix was guarded by paranoid xenophobic rightwing op-ed cartoonists"

We actually have a crying statue of liberty.

kingfish, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:09 (sixteen years ago) link

Ok this is the second cartoon I've seen demonizing fluorescent bulbs. Maybe it would be ok if they were satirizing poor light quality, or the fact that if you break one you basically have to move out and demolish the house. But... uh... saving energy and money is... bad? Then why do these people even care how much gasoline costs?

kenan, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:15 (sixteen years ago) link

The duck explains why:

B/c only sanctimonious boomer liberals and Dirty Fucking Hippies care about these things, so we mustn't be like them.

kingfish, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:18 (sixteen years ago) link

so much for patriotism; he doesn't even know what the statue of liberty looks like
