I was just rear-ended by a large pickup truck, maybe 5-10mph. No apparent damage to my car, but it's possible I may have a sore back tomorrow. I figured I didn't need to get the cops involved, since it was so minor, so I just took his license, phone #, name, and address. Right thing to do or wrong?

Should maybe have exchanged insurance info, but yeah if it's a fender-bender no need to do much more than that. Get a heating pad, if you don't already have one, to help with the potential aches.

No fenders were even bent, tho. Yeah, I should have gotten more info. I wasn't really thinking clearly at the time.

i saw i gigantic refrigeration truck stop in the middle of the road and then back into some poor woman in a crappy little chevy. totally destroying the front end. it was classic. the lady was fine - if not kind of insane with anger/adrenaline - so much so that a squeegee kid had to console her and then park her car for her!

is a 5mph prang any worse than say a ride on a rollercoaster when it comes to aches sprains & whiplash?

I'm alright, as is the guy whose truck I crashed into, as is his truck. My car I just bought half a year ago is totalled, though. No collision insurance. : (

This really couldn't happen at a worse time considering not only am I flat broke, but I'm supposed to be moving this weekend.

Oh man, Rev. You have my condolences. When my car got totalled I felt like I'd killed one of my best friends.

My car-totaling was both a thrilling near-near-death experience and in a weird way a relief at not having to deal with all the crap that was wrong with my car.

aw sorry rev :( if it makes you feel any better (and i know it won't but i'm trying) i just spent 10 months doing hour and 15 to two hour trips to work (depending on transit situations)

Gave up driving for 5 years after car-total. Prob not an option for most.

I wish I could give up driving (and part of my reason for moving was that it would allow me to cut down on driving), but giving up driving altogether isn't really feasible for me at this time. I work in kind of a weird place where there really isn't any viable point A to point B connector via public transit, even though it isn't really that far away in the grand scheme of things.
