Ooh I've been listening to this album a lot this year, in this world of mass confusion. I esp. love the synth-strings that come in during the bridge of "The Lovers," an urgent, prescient moment in an otherwise perfectly weightless song.

love "Criticise" and the title track, don't remember some of these, might give it a listen

My first thought would be to go for Criticise but the last time I listened to this, Sunshine really stood out. I'll have to give it another play before voting.

I've played Lovers pretty constantly over the years. Love the rest but it always stood out to me.

Having bought my first CD player, in 1987, this was the first CD I bought to play on it. '(What Can I Say) To Make You Love Me' was and still is my favourite track.

Went for the title track in the end (which he sings the fuck out of) just cos I think 'The Lovers' will get a few votes...but I love this record...Jam and Lewis rule

the house piano that jam & lewis start dropping into the title track in the second verse push it into "best music ever recorded" territory

also this. incredible vocals ... the hint of gaslighter incredulousness in his voice when he sings "they want to break up our happy home" ... god it's such a good song. "a lie's not the truth unless you believe it" is one of the craziest things anyone has ever said

and have the lyrics "in the world of mass confusion, one thing i find / it seems the lovers win every time" ever been more relevant........
