Entertaining movie. An adult potboiler.

one year passes...

Kael thought The Sundowners might be her "richest" performance -- she's certainly the best reason to watch it, given the longing frustrations and the sparring with sheep-driving husband Mitchum, but the whole thing is at the midpoint between Hawks and a Disney family movie. With many many sheep, and Glynis Johns having a (mercifully offscreen) affair with Peter Ustinov.

I always liked it despite being about 20 mins too long; it was a PBS standard in the '80s. Mitchum is certainly the best onscreen partner she ever had, and she's rather lusty.

Possibly more sexual chemistry with Bob when she was a nun in Heaven Knows, Mr Allison.

My favorite movie, probably

it's probably the P&P movie I've watched the most times so yeah "fave" as well on those terms. Despite Canterbury Tale probably being a more complex and interesting one.
