he name drops playa fly, tommy wright, currensy (his song tribute to currensy sounds a lot more like back to the trap house era gucci to me) but I def also get a heavy dose of DC eccentricity thru stuff like yung gleesh & other Trel era slutty boyz dudes

this is pretty striking. i really like it a lot. where is he from?? he's got his own thing, love the beats, the whole thing is really murky and almost psychedelic weird to me like early goodie mobb or the witchdoctor album (not really in that he sounds like them but there's a real subterranean feel to it but still very funky)

Gunplay was alright by me but def disappointed in the awax. His voice is a major part of the draw for me and there's just way too much autotune on it. Handful of good tracks on there tho. Whole Onion is cool.

the new a-wax sounds like a random atlanta album devoid of any personality.
there's like one great song on the gunplay album, the rest is average as fuck, his writing/rapping on it is not on par with his on the tape with mozzy.

yeah don't agree on either point; very much like d-boy fresh, cocaine, patience, y'all know where i'm from, hoeing on the low

i like the front half of the a-wax quite a bit; the autotune feels more like an instrument on the choruses than supplanting his voice

lil durk low key one of the most consistent rapper rn, last year's 2x was great, this year's love songs for the streets has plenty good songs.

new durk track is awesome, looking forward to that EP

also digging the new YoungBoy tape, though it doesn't have a highlight as strong as "38 Baby" or "What I Was Taught" (though "Untouchable" and "No Smoke" come close)

Not sure I'd give it quite as much time if it had received the kind of love it would have gotten absent his fucked up story but as it stands the silence around an album that just did like what 60k is kind of odd
