lag∞n, Monday, 26 June 2017 22:47 (six years ago) link

they are both extremely awful with bad opinions

lag∞n, Monday, 26 June 2017 22:47 (six years ago) link

budden looks more annoyed with akademiks praising them than migos, doesn't he?

agree it's weird

alpine static, Monday, 26 June 2017 22:59 (six years ago) link

sorry, but which migo is the one on the left who stands up and calmly starts adjust his sleeve because that migo is smooth

six months pass...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Shirt_(Migos_song)

With 235 million YouTube views and 240 million Spotify plays as of January 2018, the popular hit "T-Shirt" by Migos has now attained more online spins than the entire catalog of San Francisco rapper Kreayshawn.

mama told youuuuuuuuu

khat person (jim in vancouver), Monday, 22 January 2018 18:24 (six years ago) link

Notable that 32 people were wrong though: was not a hit, did not go top 10.

paulhw, Monday, 22 January 2018 18:32 (six years ago) link

it has "hit" right there in its wikipedia entry though

Simon H., Monday, 22 January 2018 18:34 (six years ago) link

Damn forks continuing to be a complete moron

I am curious why millions of people did not stream Gucci Gucci (released: 2011) on the Apple Music app (created: 2015) the way they did “t shirt” (released: 2017)

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Monday, 22 January 2018 20:30 (six years ago) link

So weird how she didn’t chart on Billboard, which started counting streams to chart position in 2013... I wonder why!!

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Monday, 22 January 2018 20:31 (six years ago) link

why are we concentrating on why that quote is wrong and not the inherent wrongness and hilarity of "more streams than Kreayshawn" being a wiki-worthy thing

mh, Monday, 22 January 2018 20:36 (six years ago) link

I smell an ilxor in the wiki

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Monday, 22 January 2018 21:48 (six years ago) link

yeah that is 100% deej bait

Spottie, Monday, 22 January 2018 21:53 (six years ago) link

“T shirt” and “mask off” charting over magnolia on pazz and jop is further evidence for the prosecution imo

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Monday, 22 January 2018 22:12 (six years ago) link

Why are we concentrating on a trolling wiki edit when

according to the rules as outlined by Whiney... deej otm.

Spottie, Monday, 22 January 2018 22:19 (six years ago) link

It was a hit by the only metric that counts: everybody in the club sings along with it whenever you play it out.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Monday, 22 January 2018 22:19 (six years ago) link

It also ranked #52 on Billboard’s songs of 2017 chart, two notches below mi gente, fwiw.

truly deej has found his truth
but will he ever find a t-shirt? time will tell.

I think "minor hit" is the end result and, sadly, I don't think this is enough evidence to dunk on deej

So Culture II is 105 minutes long...

josh az (2011nostalgia), Friday, 26 January 2018 05:40 (six years ago) link

not long enough

lag∞n, Friday, 26 January 2018 05:41 (six years ago) link

oh shit, it's out! And it's mahoosive

Badgers (dog latin), Friday, 26 January 2018 09:20 (six years ago) link

wow new album already ? I had no idea !
that might deserve a new thread, no ?

AlXTC from Paris, Friday, 26 January 2018 09:21 (six years ago) link

deej in fairness you did say this

when "t-shirt" crosses the 57 million youtube view rubicon i will consider myself defeated

she carries a torch. two torches, actually (Joan Crawford Loves Chachi), Friday, 26 January 2018 09:31 (six years ago) link

New album is very long, yes, but also surprisingly good in a low key way.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 26 January 2018 09:51 (six years ago) link

"surprisingly" ?

AlXTC from Paris, Friday, 26 January 2018 10:11 (six years ago) link

who on earth wants 105 minutes from these dudes?! give us your best 40 and call it good.

alpine static, Friday, 26 January 2018 10:23 (six years ago) link

Surprisingly as in - I wasn’t blown away by Supastars, the vibe is pretty samey all the way through, but I found myself loving it nonetheless.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 26 January 2018 10:31 (six years ago) link

ah ok. I will give it a try later on today but I really like "stir fry" so far.

AlXTC from Paris, Friday, 26 January 2018 10:33 (six years ago) link

Bit daunted by a double-length. I really loved Culture but rarely listened all the way through. That said, Culture II so far is really really catchy and immediate so maybe?

Badgers (dog latin), Friday, 26 January 2018 10:54 (six years ago) link

It’s a vibe.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 26 January 2018 11:00 (six years ago) link

lmao holy shit at the length. I assume they'll trim it down for a physical release (if they bother with one).

Simon H., Friday, 26 January 2018 11:37 (six years ago) link

I like the panache of releasing such a mammoth !
that said, it's only the equivalent of a double CD album.

AlXTC from Paris, Friday, 26 January 2018 11:47 (six years ago) link

There's way too many songs on it produced by Quavo, lol. But in hindsight, it seems like the inevitable bloated follow-up to a lean masterpiece, and then it might as well be as bloated as can be. Enough good stuff on it to be worthwhile, but it's no Without Warning.

Frederik B, Friday, 26 January 2018 12:15 (six years ago) link

Culture is "lean" only by comparison lol, it's an hour long!

Simon H., Friday, 26 January 2018 12:52 (six years ago) link

can't get into this one today . gonna give it another try over the weekend

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 26 January 2018 15:45 (six years ago) link

wow "stir fry" is horrible

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Friday, 26 January 2018 15:49 (six years ago) link

a trend I really don't like is artists overloading their albums to goose streaming numbers. More tracks = more streams = better chart position, but worse listening experience

hoooyaaargh it's me satan (voodoo chili), Friday, 26 January 2018 16:00 (six years ago) link

I mean, I guess they realize that people are just gonna cherrypick the tracks they like, so why not improve your chances at a surprise hit by releasing everything you've ever recorded

hoooyaaargh it's me satan (voodoo chili), Friday, 26 January 2018 16:01 (six years ago) link

heard a rumour that nobody forces you to listen to it all in one go
