Part of my problem is that I have to do a lot of things myself. It takes so much time. Julio Iglesias is coming to Mar-a-Lago, but I have to call Julio, I have to have lunch with Julio. I have Pavarotti coming. Pavarotti doesn’t perform for anybody. He’s the highest-paid performer in the world. A million dollars a performance. The hardest guy to get. If I call him, he’ll do it—for a huge amount less. Why? Because they like me, they respect me, I don’t know.

Is he going to be remembered as the worst thing ever? Would be deeply ironic if he just got forgotten but then people wouldn't learn from history.
JUst hope his wrongness doesn't get outdone shortly after he dies painfully, choking to death on a shagpile carpet would be fitting, though too redolent of Elvis.
But fingers crossed he doesn't act as a harbinger of things to come.

Just would be so funny if he went to all this bother and wasn't remembered in 20 years time.

You are angry at your own failings and struggle for survival, mock the GOP and ridicule its members, but when Republicans do it to the Democrats and you, you call out racism and class warfare.

I thought he still couldn't touch that money for 5 1/2 months, so the stock needs to maintain its value until then. Also I am pretty sure that if a company has a $1.3 billion dollar valuation it doesn't mean you can just cash out all the stock at once because doing so means the value tanks - like Bitcoin has some insane market cap like 1.5 trillion dollars but it's not like you could get anything close to that if all the Bitcoins were sold today

frogbs, Wednesday, 24 April 2024 13:32 (six hours ago) link

i'm not plugged into every single new story right now, but are we talking about this?

https://www.npr.org/2024/04/23/1246645808/truth-social-shares-windfall-trump-media-technology-group

Former President Trump is set to get $1.2 billion richer — at least on paper.

The windfall comes thanks to being rewarded with an additional 36 million shares in Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind his Truth Social app.
The shares are a bonus provided to him after Trump Media traded above a certain level for a set number of days.

Trump met that criteria at the close of trading on Tuesday. The new shares raise his stake in Trump Media to 115 million shares, boosting the entire net worth of his holdings in the company to $3.7 billion.

The value of Trump's stake has fallen sharply since the company's trading debut in late March after share prices in Trump Media retreated.

But it's still a significant potential return given that he's the majority shareholder in a company in which he has invested no money.

And Trump could use the money: He's mired in legal cases — including the ongoing hush money trial in New York — and is running again for the White House.

But he's prevented from selling his stake until September under his current agreement — although he could try to find ways to negotiate a new deal.

i don't know, i see how truth social is a complete embarrassment and it's amazing that it is worth more than $0.0000, but as an uninformed spectator to wealthy people i believe that the stock will be a laughingstock that will still somehow be worth billions to trump when he gets paid out in september, and that if trump has money problems in the meantime, he will find at least one insanely evil rich person to spot him a couple hundred million dollars until september, in exchange for what the insanely evil rich person (not trump - the other person here) believes will be very beneficial if he gets another chance to become a dictator in november

z_tbd, Wednesday, 24 April 2024 15:19 (five hours ago) link

would be funny if he just dumped his entire holdings the first day he was allowed, wouldnt work of course the stick would go to zero, but it would be funny, i wonder how much he can sell without it tanking, its kind of a funny sitch where not only can it tank from the over supply of him selling but it can also tank from the public perception of him selling, which i guess isnt different than any founder and big holder of a company, except with trump its maybe more fraught cause the people holding the stock are fans of his rather than just investors
