A company has brought out a card game called ‘British Nonces’ similar to Top Trumps where you compete using cards with well known perverts, paedophiles and killers as the subject. the dan davies book is p good tho -- unless there's a updated post #metoo edition -- it felt like he was pulling some of his punches (at least that's what i felt when i read it)

in terms of "in plain sight" saville's own "as it happens" is a good deal grimmer

saw sadowitz in a pub in ealing once, rehearsing his tour, and it was one of the funniest things i’ve seen (partly because it definitely wasn’t for a lot of the people there).

then i went to see pretty much exactly the same show at the royal festival hall (bit weird) and it felt offensive and flat.

possibly worth noting i generally loathe comedy and esp stand up comics (numerous notable exceptions aside)

god how pompous. but i just don’t like the whole stand up comedy thing. every fibre of me resists violently.

agree. there's just something cringe about the whole setup. an audience pays to have someone be funny for them. no wonder so many stand-up comics are assholes. i'm not sure why i don't feel this way about theater. the older i get the more my definition of humor turns to spontaneous riffing among friends.
