Incidentally I saw KD live a few weeks ago - I thought it was going to be a full band show, instead it was solo. I was a bit disappointed at first but he was great. I teared up in public like a good emo kid.

Also he mentioned we can expect another Bad Books record at...some point

lol i found that record extremely dull but chastity belt are not for me

I can definitely understand that, they're (purposely) not very dynamic, but they key into an emotional register that really works for me

mostly i think the best album on that list by a mile (hop along) is there under false pretenses

also that driver friendly's bury a dream is better than any album on there

Going through that list. Keep You is so much better than The Lack Long After, I have no idea why people prefer PBTT in screamo mode.

and i def don't think the albatross is better than dealer, or whenever, if ever (ugh so dull) is better than harmlessness

so it's so weird during the obsessives set they kept bringing these guys up to sing the songs but they couldn't really carry a tune and they didn't really know the songs (they kept looking at their phones to sing/read the lyrics). is this something they normally do or what

I didn't hate that Spin list. Maybe 1 album per band would have helped a touch, especially when it's 30. Weird to exclude Waxahatchee but not Swearin.' Feel like that first Waxahatchee record is more suitably emo.

also *really* enjoying the Mystery Weekend record - full of fun little twists and turns crammed into 26 mins. I knew I recognized the singer, took me a minute to realize it was the Protest the Hero guy!

tigers jaw are generally pleasantly boring. they almost get there every time. great musicians though

I'm sort of obsessed with "Change Irreversible" and this sounds totally in that ballpark so I'm pleased

both manorch (love that shorthand) singles are really really nice

I'm not sure where to put this song--I get a Weakerthans vibe from the lyrics (emo?), and they're on SideOne Dummy (pop/punk?)--so I'm putting it here. Point is, I'm loving it.

They opened for Beach Slang a couple of years ago. I liked their 2015 album Imaginary Life quite a bit. "Plans" is great. If this is an indication of where they're going with their sound, I'm in.

oh shit i finally got around to listening to that creeper record and imo this is the record that comes closest to collapsing the pop-punk/glam metal dichotomy, it's so ambitious and embarrassing. i LOVE it

I'm listening to this again and at least 20 bands have sprung to mind over the first 5 tracks, it's really something

sorta wish the record had mcr-quality sharpness in its production, it's real foggy sounding, but that's my only complaint so far

has anyone heard this record from 2011? would've been a good fit in our emo poll tbh
