Boycott is pretty interesting in the ITV Clough documentary that was on at the same time the film came out. I think this is the only time he's been interesting, but I guess a lot of stuff was cut.

Techie question:

Is anyone else streaming Test Match Special through the BBC website today?

I'm using Windows Media Player 11 with the maximum 60 seconds of buffering, but it still keeps clipping out every now and again. I'm at work with an excellent network connection (and I don't have this problem streaming anything else). Assuming it isn't a localised network problem (the same thing happened yesterday with TMS), is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is it a problem with the BBC's stream? Or is Windows Media Player just shite?

Thought Swann might make a bit of hay today.

xp I am, but using Real Player which might be a better medium with which to play it- it seems to be the BBC's preferred streamer.

lol at Boycs criticising Gayle's "savoir-faire" attitude.

Reminds me of an amusing exchange last night

Boycott: "To me, it's just sympto... sympo... symtomatic... is that right?"
Agnew: "Almost"

Sacco, Vanzetti, Passantino... (Tom D.), Thursday, 7 May 2009 11:25 (fourteen years ago) link

They make a good double act.

Academic anyway since he's continuing!

zero learnt from nero (Neil S), Thursday, 7 May 2009 11:52 (fourteen years ago) link

No, I mean he might get a yorker next ball and not know where he is/what the bit of wood he's holding is

sorry for british (country matters), Thursday, 7 May 2009 11:52 (fourteen years ago) link

I knew he was continuing

Don't school me on the laws of cricket, bro

sorry for british (country matters), Thursday, 7 May 2009 11:53 (fourteen years ago) link

for anyone listening only, the back of Anderson's helmet has a whopping great chunk out of it, right at the back. If he hadn't been wearing it - boom boom out go the lights.

problem chimp (Porkpie), Thursday, 7 May 2009 11:57 (fourteen years ago) link

RIP

sorry for british (country matters), Thursday, 7 May 2009 11:58 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah it was horrible. Hope there aren't any delayed effects.
West Indies didn't look interested today which was really bizarre.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 12:07 (fourteen years ago) link

A lot of that is down to Gayle and his savoir faire attitude

Sacco, Vanzetti, Passantino... (Tom D.), Thursday, 7 May 2009 12:08 (fourteen years ago) link

Swann is opening the bowling with Broad???? Is jimmy unable to bowl?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:00 (fourteen years ago) link

Jimmy last seen talking to a bust of WG Grace in the long room and has been sent to sit with the duffers in MCC ties.

Prince of Persia (Ed), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:02 (fourteen years ago) link

it seems its a ploy to get Gayle swashbuckling early

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:02 (fourteen years ago) link

i think he will only get a couple of overs at most before Jimmy comes in

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:03 (fourteen years ago) link

Swash is being buckled.

sorry for british (country matters), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:06 (fourteen years ago) link

Strauss is getting lots of stick from the sky commentators. What do you think LJ?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:08 (fourteen years ago) link

24-0 already

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:09 (fourteen years ago) link

sorry for british (country matters), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:11 (fourteen years ago) link

sorry for british (country matters), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:12 (fourteen years ago) link

England have wasted the new ball 32-0

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:13 (fourteen years ago) link

it's only 5 overs old, chillax

sorry for british (country matters), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:14 (fourteen years ago) link

England have graciously allowed the West Indies their 12th batsman, Winston Extras, who scored a career best of 74 not out in Port of Spain last winter.

Prince of Persia (Ed), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:17 (fourteen years ago) link

Nah, he got more in a Pakistan - India game once IIRC

sorry for british (country matters), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:18 (fourteen years ago) link

but it was a courageous knock for sure

sorry for british (country matters), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:18 (fourteen years ago) link

They have Prior experience of inept wicketkeeping adding to the opposition's score

Sacco, Vanzetti, Passantino... (Tom D.), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:19 (fourteen years ago) link

I think that was Mustaq Ali Extras, easy mistake to make.

Prince of Persia (Ed), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:19 (fourteen years ago) link

i cant say Flowers coaching has impressed me so far this year

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:20 (fourteen years ago) link

Gayle plays on!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:32 (fourteen years ago) link

only thing is now Sarwan is on. Wonder if we can get him out this series?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:33 (fourteen years ago) link

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 13:51 (fourteen years ago) link

love that dude

sorry for british (country matters), Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:24 (fourteen years ago) link

Swann gets Smith with his 1st ball of his 2nd spell.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:24 (fourteen years ago) link

It didnt turn or anything, Smith just seems to struggle against spin and picked the wrong line. Obviously why they wanted him to open the bowling earlier.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:25 (fourteen years ago) link

Broad is now our best strike bowler, weird.

Jarlrmai, Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:26 (fourteen years ago) link

you know who is at the crease now. Can we get him out this series?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:26 (fourteen years ago) link

OH MY FIRST BALL

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:27 (fourteen years ago) link

They know alot of the windies are suspect to spin

Jarlrmai, Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:27 (fourteen years ago) link

Swanny is on a hat-trick
