Can't quite wrap my mind around Moments In Love as r'n'b. At that point we should include the Pet Shop Boys and Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

My list is composed almost exclusively of charting singles. I'm sure I'll have another long list to contribute once I dig into album tracks.

Not to mention freestyle tracks, which is a whole can of worms unto itself.

i included "moments in love" b/c (in the us) it charted only on the r&b charts (not highly but still) and b/c the only station i hear playing it nowadays is the classic r&b station (often but not always during quiet storm segments)

included nocera's "summertime summertime" despite being freestyle b/c it also charted r&b (#47 peak, compared to a #84 pop peak) which again is more than some other freestyle tracks nominated (like "point of no return") can say

should be noted that some of the michael jackson singles that were nominated without objection missed the r&b charts entirely

anyway i figure considerations of goodness of fit will inevitably creep into voters' decisions
