So many brilliant songs already accounted for.

I only voted for two Al Green songs. Sha-La-La was one of them.

Love that Jackson Sisters song so much. One of the most uplifting songs I can think of. It was in my top 25.

I voted for a different Smokey song, but I'm happy to see Cruisin' make it. His 70s albums are so underrated.

Want Ads is a nice surprise to see. Amazing song.

I was listening to Songs In The Key Of Life yesterday. I really should have voted for As. I tried to not vote for more than three songs by each artist.

The Dramatics, Dr. Buzzard, Sylvester, Hot Chocolate, Isley Brothers, War and Chic are all classics too. This list is awesome so far.

As was in my top ten, this is insanely low.

I sent in my ballot in the last minute and if I didn't it wouldn't have made it! Such a beautiful song and a perfect coda (along with Another Star) to one of the best albums of all time

I was one of the voters on that one too. Just insanely good vibes throughout.

As is brilliant but in a way that doesn't make me want to single it out specifically. Stevie has 20 or so songs I feel that way about.

EW&F are the only artist I gave as much love as Stevie Wonder, thanks to "Best of My Love" and "Free."

Turns out that Minnie Riperton "Reasons" is a massive omission from my ballot - I'd forgotten all about it. What a monster!
Reggie Garner is new to me, and great.

mike t-diva, Wednesday, 12 April 2017 16:16 (seven years ago) link

If You Really Love Me is the best structured pop song ever.

I was the other voter for Reasons, had it in my top ten--spectacular guitar and fierce vocal creating that euphoria

Patti Jo is the first track not on Spotify. Know it very well, though.

I realize now that "fierce" is an understatement for Minnie's vocal on "Reasons." Her melismas are often hit-or-miss for me, but her final, impossibly high notes on that song, when they blends with the guitar...man

human music...I like it! (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 12 April 2017 16:21 (seven years ago) link

"Reasons" is pretty gorgeous. "Jungle Boogie" is the most famous iteration of a formula I've liked far better elsewhere in KatG's catalog.

ArchCarrier, Wednesday, 12 April 2017 16:33 (seven years ago) link

At this point, everything is too low.

insidious assymetrical weapons (Eric H.), Wednesday, 12 April 2017 16:36 (seven years ago) link

Everything will be too low until we reach #1. Which if it's "I Want You Back" I will say "TOO HIGH!"

Figured nobody would vote for Proud Mary. It's as played as Stayin Alive and not as unique.

gospodin simmel, Wednesday, 12 April 2017 17:06 (seven years ago) link

Yay for Sweet Thing. That was one of my noms, though I obvs didn't bother voting for it because I am a horrible person.

Ike & Tina's "Proud Mary" (which I voted for) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Stayin' Alive"

(and that is the last time I will diss that song itt, I promise)
