yeah, "Richter Scale Madness," "Half of What," "Mistakes and Regrets," "A Perfect Teenhood" all emo af, it's just that nagging SY influence that stands in their way

not to mention "Sigh Your Children" which is an extremely lolemo way to end a record

this was the predictive (and retrospective) thematic strk for the worst period of my life, so of course I voted for it highly

awesome, another discovery that made my top ten.

from angry heads with skyward eyes is a classic 4ever tho

one of the starkest and most stressful rock albums ever, no relief or release at all (or when it comes it feels mocking)

haven't been able to stop listening to lp2. goldsmith's ghost notes on "iscarabraid" are incredible, i don't think i ever noticed them before. can u believe dave grohl recorded over all of goldsmith's drum tracks for the colour and the shape? (i can but what a shame)

can't stand bright eyes but this record is indisputable

Listening to Braid again for the 1st time in years and it really should have been on my ballot.

This is also great and also went straight into my ballot after a couple of songs

this album proves that oberst is emo cause the only way you wouldn't make a bunch more records like this was if you hated fun

to reiterate brad's earlier point I'm extremely stoked that this soundly defeated all the bright eyes albums

I love that the b-sides flow into each other with a segue, classic rare advanced wanker move

Someone had nominated this album as Read Music/SpeakEnglish, and it almost ended up that way in the rollout, if only just one person out of nine hadn't corrected it :)
