Why is search still down? Some nasty technical prob? Do we need to do another fund raiser to tackle this? Inquiring minds etc.

the goog works better anyway. i'm glad search being down has forced me to use it.

No searching by user, to pick one obvious use of search that Google can't do.

yeah, it sucks that you can no longer do fun harmless targeted username searches like

"my girlfriend" AND displayName:flopson

I feel like nakh probably came back to ilx a couple months ago but I just don't know it because the search function is down and he only posts in places I never look at like the rolling metal thread

it also sucks that you can't filter google results by date, so you can't, for instance, see how ilx's relationship with Steely Dan has evolved over the past 17 years, which for me is an urgent and nagging concern

yeah, also it lacks the ease at which you can search for mentions of yourself on threads you don't read or when other posters make display names that pun on yours.

AND AND AND it sucks when you are looking for an image post you made on a thread that is no longer active and you forget the title of it .... I was reduced to looking at last modified dates for images on my computer to figure one out.

ILX Search is/was a magnificent thing -- those who designed it and maintained it should be very proud. Please bring it back soon.
