marcos, Thursday, 16 February 2017 15:25 (seven years ago) link

you know what I'm talking about with this jeans dragging the ground thing, right

I was kind of in awe, that this late 90s college bro look was in front of me at work in 2015

mh 😏, Thursday, 16 February 2017 15:26 (seven years ago) link

you have to complete that look with black italian-style loafers iirc

call all destroyer, Thursday, 16 February 2017 15:30 (seven years ago) link

Hey MH I didn't know you worked here, we should go grab a beer sometime.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 16 February 2017 16:00 (seven years ago) link

lol

marcos, Thursday, 16 February 2017 16:02 (seven years ago) link

hahaha

i managed to get some Neuw 'Iggy' jeans (not heard of the brand before but they were really decent) for quite cheap from TKMaxx. If I'd known I'd be so pleased with them, I'd have bought two pairs but they don't stock them any more.

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Thursday, 16 February 2017 16:05 (seven years ago) link

good to hear others have that bro at work

mh 😏, Thursday, 16 February 2017 16:08 (seven years ago) link

even if Tombot is the bro, let's get some brews

mh 😏, Thursday, 16 February 2017 16:09 (seven years ago) link

I need new jeans, what should I get? I'm sick of Uniqlo's denim now that it's built for comfort but not durability (I get pocket blowouts in <1 year when I wear them regularly). I don't want to spend more than $100. Should I just keep getting $40 Uniqlo jeans every year or two?

i feel like just keep buying cheap is a good idea unless anyone has any recommendations for really high duality durable fancy jeans.

i used to wear nudies for years but just got into buying used 501s and stuff for a while there after going off skinny jeans, but just bought a pair of nudie thin finns, i will get back to you in a year as to whether they have fallen apart

Islamic State of Mind (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 16 February 2017 20:12 (seven years ago) link

do nudies run smaller than usual? the models on their site make them look like they're mostly super skinny cuts

Fβ™― Aβ™― (∞), Thursday, 16 February 2017 21:39 (seven years ago) link

I had one pretty regular sized pair and a skinnier pair, waist runs relatively true and not inflated

mh 😏, Thursday, 16 February 2017 21:50 (seven years ago) link

the waist seems true in that i could just about fit into a 32 but had to admit to myself I'm really a 33. they have a variety of cuts with some of them being v skinny. i wear thin finns and I'm a pretty skinny legged dude and they're pretty tight

Islamic State of Mind (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 16 February 2017 22:14 (seven years ago) link

waists on jeans stretch out really fast ime. i've been a 31 for years, but tried on a bunch of 31s recently that felt really tight and at first thought "oh i guess im a 32 now." after a day of wearing them they felt totally normal though.

marcos, Thursday, 16 February 2017 22:18 (seven years ago) link

that is true, you want them a bit snug to begin with for sure

Islamic State of Mind (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 16 February 2017 22:18 (seven years ago) link

my legs can't fit into anything smaller than a slim and even that is sometimes pretty snug

saw a couple cool designs

i need jeans as well, but i might just stick with levis

Fβ™― Aβ™― (∞), Thursday, 16 February 2017 22:38 (seven years ago) link

i just started buying more $ jeans and getting them repaired. crotch blows out on almost any pair unless they have that double layer that some companies build in now. i think if you search for cycling jeans you should findÉ anyway most cities should have someone who can chainstitch those badboys back up, nothing feels better than wearing a pair of jeans you've already been wearing for ages

why ruin a good tradition? (Will M.), Thursday, 16 February 2017 23:12 (seven years ago) link

I found out Levi's had discontinued the 527s and just went on Amazon and ordered six or seven pairs in different finishes

I'm that guy

El Tomboto, Thursday, 16 February 2017 23:15 (seven years ago) link

I don't ever let the hems blow out though. Never even fray - busted ass clothes are for more dedicated hobros than me

El Tomboto, Thursday, 16 February 2017 23:19 (seven years ago) link

oh shit maybe I should check out those Levi's Commuter jeans?

Fluffy Saint-Bernard (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 17 February 2017 17:09 (seven years ago) link

wait acc to the website they redesigned them and they have terrible reviews now :(

Fluffy Saint-Bernard (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 17 February 2017 17:10 (seven years ago) link

WHY CAN'T I JUST FIND GOOD KINDA-SLIM DURABLE RAW/SELVEDGE JEANS FOR UNDER $100

Fluffy Saint-Bernard (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 17 February 2017 17:10 (seven years ago) link

i've not worn uniqlo jeans but have bought other clothes from them (in japan though, not sure if that makes a difference) and i like the quality and style for the price

i like levi's for the same reasons

though ag and rag&bone are good, long lasting jeans if you can find a style you like (don't see any good ones on their sites right now), but they are more expensive

Fβ™― Aβ™― (∞), Friday, 17 February 2017 17:17 (seven years ago) link

jeans don't last long.

be at peace.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Friday, 17 February 2017 18:41 (seven years ago) link

i embrace my worn out jeans and actually prefer them

Fβ™― Aβ™― (∞), Friday, 17 February 2017 18:47 (seven years ago) link

me too. i have two pairs in rotation and feel like i'm eating my greens when i wear the newer pair.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Friday, 17 February 2017 19:27 (seven years ago) link

i wear the newer ones to work and the old ones on weekends

marcos, Friday, 17 February 2017 19:42 (seven years ago) link

hmm some cheap cos jeans on sale rn

flopson, Friday, 17 February 2017 20:08 (seven years ago) link

gap actually has some decent jeans and they're probably mostly or all on sale since the company is struggling

clouds, Friday, 17 February 2017 22:53 (seven years ago) link

I picked up a pair of dark regular-fit selvedge jeans for 10 DAMN DOLLARS at Uniqlo and I looooooooove them!!! I have not worn non-slim jeans in 10 years and I really love them a lot????

Fluffy Saint-Bernard (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 20 February 2017 21:20 (seven years ago) link

yeah it's interesting to go away from slim jeans, feels like a departure

Islamic State of Mind (jim in vancouver), Monday, 20 February 2017 21:20 (seven years ago) link

non-slim jeans feel less fussy

marcos, Monday, 20 February 2017 21:23 (seven years ago) link

I feel so style-advanced and mature and grownup??

Fluffy Saint-Bernard (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 20 February 2017 21:28 (seven years ago) link

Made 2 pairs so far this year one in striped orange and the other turquoise/green with a narrow bright green stripe.

Orange ones are very comfy.
Will make couple more before long. One brown/red tartan and one green/brown/blue stripes.

Stevolende, Monday, 20 February 2017 21:34 (seven years ago) link

Are dark blue washed blue jeans cool? Or can I only wear black like every other schlub on the street?

calstars, Monday, 20 February 2017 23:00 (seven years ago) link

The great lie of designer jeans is that jeans have ever, or ever will be, cool

They are utilitarian leg coverings that attempt to balance durability with all-season comfort while being in the price range of the wage-earner

So if they hit all those marks you should be confident in your choice, not concerned

El Tomboto, Monday, 20 February 2017 23:04 (seven years ago) link

yes tombot we know you are a computer man dad who wears loose fit levis, kirkland t-shirts, and chucks high tops that you stole from a member of reel big fish

Islamic State of Mind (jim in vancouver), Monday, 20 February 2017 23:17 (seven years ago) link

do you go into ilm threads and post "beatles and stones man, that's all you need"

Islamic State of Mind (jim in vancouver), Monday, 20 February 2017 23:17 (seven years ago) link

tom is an anagram of otm

Fβ™― Aβ™― (∞), Monday, 20 February 2017 23:22 (seven years ago) link

xxp No, I go into ILM threads about AFX and say "OK you suckers, at least I know when to cut my losses and admit I'm dreaming of a return to 1994 every time I buy one of this asshole's records"

If Mordy gets to go on Rolling Political Philosophy and declaim he's perfectly OK with a theistic origin of natural rights, then I get to say BE YOURSELF on fashion threads and you're required to come to grips with my deeply felt beliefs

El Tomboto, Monday, 20 February 2017 23:27 (seven years ago) link

kind of sitting here in quiet appreciation of jim's laser-targeted deconstruction
