it seems like most of these can be classified as (1) non-native English speaker hypercorrects his grammar in attempt to appear fluent (2) native English speaker hypercorrects his grammar in an attempt to appear erudite (3) underinformed reporter/clerk/historian bungles the past perfect tense in an attempt to hide the fact that he doesn't really know when an event occurred or for how long (4) internet person makes a simple typo and would have used better phrasing if he would have had been bothered to review his post before hitting submit. I guess this Phil McNulty guy falls into categories 2 and 3?

HPV is a viral infection.. it is a virus that stays with you forever just like if you were to had been infected with herpes/genital herpes or HIV.. all of those are viral infections.. genital herpes/herpes may go away with treatments as far as symptoms, but the virus still remains in the body forever..
