Be careful before you purchase this CD. If you enjoy Cole Porter because of the creative tempos, the mix of rythmns and lyrics, the way that words play together, and the great melodies - then this is not your CD. The musicians are jazz specialists who see a tune only as the base for them to express their own attitudes, and they destroy Cole Porter by employing their own tempos and melodies and inserting long segments of instrument skill demonstrations that have nothing to do with the song. If you like Jazz, it's probably decent. If you like Cole Porter, don't waste your money.

I've wondered why I keep finding myself disagreeing with your music opinions, but now I understand: you are keeping the torch burning for the challops of 2001 ILM.

That's incorrect, and the first 7 posts on this thread are still OTM.

If prog just means "radio-friendly mainstream rock perpetrated by people who have classical training, who have played technically complex music at various times in the past, and who are widely regarded as having 'chops' in the guitar-mag sense," then that is pretty meaningless.

..."grimace-inducing" describes your review more than the original CD, in which confident conclusions are unsupported by any clarity and obscene expressions (however softened by abbreviation) have no place.
"Busy Mom" are you? I hope for your community's sake that your parenting is more civilized than your music listening, writing, or good taste.

Another incompetent review by a sneering, busy mom who fancies herself quite the expert but reveals herself immediately as anything but.

Ugh... 'Happy' is playing on the radio and the only heartening thing about it is that finally it feels like we're coming out of that obnoxious faux-town craze that lasted wayyy too long.
But there's always going to be a 'Shit Trend' in pop music that exemplifies a particular time - usually it involves producers and artists jumping on an actually very credible idea, but pumping out as many watered-down versions as possible before the trend expires.
Right now, the extent reggaeton-lite fad is clearly becoming more than just a fad as it's been going on for years and recently reared its head with DJ Snake's 'Taki Taki'.
Is this the 'shit trend' right now? Or is there something more insidiously bland waiting in the wings? What other shit trends have there been in history, ones that despite being a bit shit seem to exemplify a two or three year stretch?

Isn't that a wee bit presumptuous to claim your own personal pronoun? Additionally (s)he wants to be called in the plural, grammatically that is rubbish. What bewilders me there is that the Guardian immediately accepts and promotes this instrumentalisation of the language for a personal cause by reprinting it. Is there no public discussion about this kind of language intervention?

I think I'd be more excited for a Kendrick Lamar album if I was still listening to any new hip hop, which I have stopped about the time of Untitled Unmastered. I don't think I remember anything from Damn except the annoying "Bitch, be humble" line. His number of features was also ridiculous at some point. But will be happy to listen to the new one about 15 weeks after everyone else because I still love everything he did up to TPAB.
