yeah true, i wonder how long homemade keeps though. i'm usually cooking for one so i don't use stuff fast enough.

rice and peas came out ok. i used this recipe http://eatjamaican.com/recipes/riceandpeas-recipe.html + dried beans rather than canned (and probably the equivalent of 2 cans--1 would not be enough), brown rice, salt + pepper. the boiling scotch bonnet thing never makes stuff hot enough though (imo)
