Should I feel bad that keep all my comics in non-bagged yellowing piles in a cupboard?

I've only in the last year or so started properly bagging and boxing my comics. Mostly just to keep them from getting more beat up than they already are.

Plus I find that long boxes, when stacked, have less of a tendency to collapse and crush their contents than do other types of cardboard boxes.

You just store them upright with bookends and such?

My biggest burst of comic buying was the late 80s-mid 90s. I treated them like crap, but they're still in perfectly readable condition - I just read the DeMatteis run on Doctor Fate from 89-91 and it's in totally good nick. So basically I can never be bothered. Nowadays I just give stuff to charity shops after I've bought it or leave them in piles where they won't annoy my partner too much. The only thing I regret not bothering to hold onto properly was 52, but I imagine those aren't hard to replace.

xp, i store them upright in a bookshelf with doors... generally with TPBs on either end. makes them accessible and kinda po-mo modern arty.

Ah, a TPB sandwich makes sense.

Same here -- my stack of comics from the '80s and early '90s have spent their life in a series of boxes and on various shelves and bathroom floors, and they're in pretty good shape. I have some bagged, b/c I thought it was important back then, but I don't do that anymore.
