i don't know how anyone else remembers this, but for what i think is the strange attractor i'm revolving around, willie and julio is a+. always on my mind and on the road again are timeless classics, even if i'd forgotten them or forgotten that willie nelson was more or less an actual pop star of the 80s variety for a bit outside of his outlaw country or iconic american songwriter status. to all the girls is just an ok or even pretty good but not great song that had a respectable pop culture presence for a period but i totally forgot about it because, not big 80s canon but also not hey guys, lol 80s. the war song is lol 80s because we already know that war is stupid and people are stupid, a better choice would have been move away or miss me blind imo, but i put war song in at no. 1 for comedy reasons, i felt the list needed to go there instead of back down to move away. karma chameleon, do you really want to hurt me, or time (clock of the heart) are straight classics, i'll punch you right in the grocery basket if you disagree, love is love is too obscure, i have to strain too much to recall it having any valence, church of the poison mind is a lost classic since it should be canon but most civilians wouldn't cite it off the top of their heads if they had to run down culture club's unimpeachable contributions to western arts and society. it's a miracle, i don't know how to categorize that one. all i know is that dreams are made of emotion.

like there's classics canon > lost/ obscure classics/ nerd stuff that's part of the fabric but too finely woven for general discernment/ remembrance > herman mehville, where we all lived in the how's the water/ what's water sense > lol bad taste so resultantly elevated to classic representation of the time period in question > dustbin of never was.
