I thought Moebius was more the funny noises / rhythm guy tbh.

You may be right! I really don't know. The only solo Moebius I ever owned was that Blue Moon soundtrack thing, and I barely remember what it sounds like.

"Zuckerzeit" usefully has 6 Roedelius tracks and 6 Moebius tracks to compare and contrast.

And I adore the 6 Roedelius and appreciate but don't love Moebius' share. But "Sowiesoso" is perfect all the way through.

There's a handy compilation that came out on Bureau B a few years ago, "Kollektion 02".

I'm thinking of picking up "Selbstportrait 2" on CD, the one put out by Bureau B in 2010, but there's an Amazon review that mentions this issue:

There's been a major mastering error on this release that replaces tracks 5 and 6 (Alle Jahre Wieder and Übern Fluss) with two tracks from Selbstportrait VI - The Diary Of The Unforgotten (Weg and Ausgewahlt).

I haven't seen this problem mentioned anywhere else. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I can't speak to the CD audio, but comparing the Bureau B-sourced versions of Selbstportraits 2 and VI that are streaming on Spotify, there is no overlap between the two. And "Alle Jahre Wieder" is sublime, one of his best tracks.

The Amazon reviewer said the error was corrected in the digital edition. No one's got the CD?

I just checked the Bureau B Selbsportrait Vol. II CD. Track 5 audio is the last 90 seconds of "Hommage à Forst" plus "Weg". Track 6 audio is "Ausgewählt".

1980 cassette compilation of selbstportrait-era stuff. totally different than the LP compilation a few years later on Sky. many tracks that came out on this cassette before appearing on later LPs, so not only different track titles, but in some cases longer edits & two tracks I don't think are on any other album including that Archive 73-78 box from a few years ago (and even THAT didn't use everything from the tape transfers)

Thanks!

To answer the OP's quandary, if a fraud, surely one in the same way as Harold Budd might be one.
