feel like some of the earlier episodes that originated stupid recurring gags get shortchanged in lists. I have a soft spot for "The Gang Gets Invincible" even if the whole green man persona was gimmicky

the reveal that Frank's entire acid trip took place while he was standing in a trash can really established his whole unreliable narrator persona

kind of want them to bring back Lil' Kev again as a successful rapper

my favorite sunny moment is in the intervention episode when they tell frank the bar is on fire and he comes in with his gun out yelling "where's the fire!?!!?" that whole episode is great tho.

also someone pointed out in the comments section of that gawker list that pepe silvia is likely charlie trying to read pennsylvania. i had never thought of that before.

and "Carol" is "Care Of"

yeh think one of the writers debunked that as coincidence

'the waitress is getting married' is at #83 on that list. that list is worthless.

The poop in the bed episode is way too high on that list. Probably my least favourite

"Who Pooped The Bed?" is funny, but doesn't quite live up to the episode title--kinda like "Mac and Charlie Die"

off the top of my head, top ranked would be the "Gang Goes to Hell" 2-parter, the high school reunion 2-parter, who pooped the bed?, the waitress is getting married, the Gang Gets Held Hostage, The Gang Dances Their Asses Off, The Nightman Cometh, Who Got Dee Pregnant?, A Very Sunny Christmas, Chardee MacDennis: Game of Games, Flowers for Charlie, the first Lethal Weapon one. Um, there's probably another dozen or so that I think are close to perfect...

Mac is a Serial Killer, The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis, The Gang Wrestles For the Troops, Mac Day, The Gang Dances Their Asses Off, Dennis & Dee Go On Welfare, The Gang Runs For Office...

This is truly an all-time great comedy and I won't rest until everyone agrees.

The Gang Gets Invincible was a favorite of mine, I rewound and replayed every scene with Faizon Love losing his temper probably 100 times the night that ended.

think episodes are hard to rank cos it's so consistent that people's favorites can be drastically different for minor reasons. kinda what I love about it.

also caused me to say "Do I really need more episodes" for a while but catching up has made me reinvigorated by the show

I also found it interesting how much more conventional (by its own measure) the pre-Frank episodes were. Like in the first few episodes they actually gave a shit about running the bar and increasing profits and were more just socially awkward dudes, and Dee actually briefly gave a shit about Artemis, etc.

My brother got me the DVDs for one Christmas (I'd never seen the show), and he'd only seen post-Frank eps and he kept remarking, surprised at how it was so different than the ones he'd seen and how Charlie's voice was deeper and everything and he wasn't all that insane. it was still a weird show but way more confined.

agree that Mac Day is way up there. RIP Country Mac.

in the early eps Charlie could read, Mac was not gay, etc. Things took a little while to solidify.

the Gang Broke Dee about killed me the other night, Lavell Crawford playing "Landslide", Dennis's Morbsian reaction to the infantile comedy around him.

oh and Charlie as Serpico in "Bums: Making a Mess Over the City" (except for the moments where they self-referenced it"), "To the Mare", his spin doctors mix tape....

xpost yeah - when Charlie was playing Bones and yelled some trash talk, my bro said "THAT'S more like the Charlie I'm used to". I still love all those early eps too, they were just funny for other reasons. Frank brought it to the next level tho. Sort of like he was their Douche Sensei, they all had this shitty behavior in them and he showed them how to use it.

yes, he's Lavell Crawford. used to be on ComicView, and recently also Breaking Bad.

he was the dude who had one of my favorite bits on ComicView, where he was saying some woman came up to him and asked him if he was Men at Large, and he replied "BITCH, I ain't BOTH of em!"

or that might have been Bruce Bruce. can't recall, but he was funny as hell back in the day

all of them are so self-absorbed all of their views of other people are one-dimensional

mac being gay has been a big topic of conversation over the years, he finally admits to it and they just drop it, unbelievable

dee still hates being called a bird though

was getting caught up on some seasons 8 & 9 eps that i missed. Dee's tossed off "oh I got my nails done like Flo Jo" in Charlie rules the World almost killed me. I love Kaitlin Olson so much.

last night's had moments but was the weakest of the season so far, appropriately meta since Charlie and Mac's moms really are pretty crappy characters.

Mac's mom yelling "I smell like shit!" in that one episode still makes me howl
