did you guys get, um, all the orbs?

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 30 December 2016 14:47 (seven years ago) link

inside was great, rly bizarre

am0n, Friday, 30 December 2016 17:29 (seven years ago) link

did you all play limbo? just asking because when it came out i don't remember the reaction being so overwhelmingly positive. i thought inside was really good but not a quantum leap past what limbo did.

Karl Malone, Friday, 30 December 2016 17:35 (seven years ago) link

idk, i remember a whole lot of acclaim around Limbo at the time? and in irl it was the only game that my friends who don't play video games got super into (either watching or playing).

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 30 December 2016 17:50 (seven years ago) link

I did not play Limbo because I figured it was a mountain of pompous Braid-y twaddle when it came out; I am, however, about to play the everliving shit out of it once I finish Inside (and play at least a bit of BF1 before the year is over) because Inside is straight-up incredible.

thos beads (jamescobo), Friday, 30 December 2016 18:58 (seven years ago) link

yeah imo iirc Limbo is nothing like Braid - not twee at all

Mordy, Friday, 30 December 2016 19:02 (seven years ago) link

It's basically the opposite of Braid, aside from being 2-d and having puzzles.

Limbo has some trickier puzzles compared to Inside, but Inside found me thinking a lot more about the world and 'story'.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 30 December 2016 19:04 (seven years ago) link

ugh fine i'll play this game and unbookmark this thread guyz

Nhex, Friday, 30 December 2016 19:24 (seven years ago) link

i don't know what inside is going on about storywise but yeah way more engaging to me than limbo which got a bit too heavy on the puzzle shit towards the end

verdun... sucks. i was hoping for a ww1 version of chivalry medieval warfare but its just kinda lame

am0n, Friday, 30 December 2016 21:48 (seven years ago) link

slain is pretty good. strong castlevania sotn vibes but throwing a shitload of enemies at u at once like dark souls 2

am0n, Friday, 30 December 2016 21:51 (seven years ago) link

i like inside so far it reminds me of like stranger things + another world (out of this world -btw what's the deal w/ everyone using this other title i only knew it as this alternate one until ilx) + maybe a little bit oddworld

Mordy, Sunday, 1 January 2017 04:52 (seven years ago) link

i finished it last night. it's very good. it also reminds me of a flash (?) game whose name i can't remember unfortunately but maybe one of u do - it's platform stages w/ a lot of violent deaths and you needed to have precision timing.

Mordy, Sunday, 1 January 2017 18:08 (seven years ago) link

I burned through Inside pretty quickly. I loved it. Favorite parts were the mind control segments and the end game, it was great how the feel and controls changed. Least favorite parts were escaping the "mermaids," too stressful.

Immediate Follower (NA), Monday, 2 January 2017 22:53 (seven years ago) link

the mind control segments were the ones that reminded me of oddworld

Mordy, Monday, 2 January 2017 22:54 (seven years ago) link

I think I am physically incapable of playing NBA 2Kwhatever games. I don't understand the controls at all.

¶ (DJP), Monday, 2 January 2017 23:30 (seven years ago) link

they are have been horrible games for years now imo

(•̪●) (carne asada), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 14:54 (seven years ago) link

I don't think I've played a basketball game since NBA Jam. That was the best one, right?

mh 😏, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 14:57 (seven years ago) link

(the original, I forgot they did some sort of 2000s release)

mh 😏, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 14:58 (seven years ago) link

original nba2k on dreamcast FTW

(•̪●) (carne asada), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 14:59 (seven years ago) link

I had to turn off NBA2K16 after turning every inbound pass from the back court into a lobbed desperation shot at the hoop for a good 90 seconds.

¶ (DJP), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 15:01 (seven years ago) link

if you wanna play bball NBA Jam for mobiles is a pretty tight and the controls are p good

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 15:07 (seven years ago) link

(•̪●) (carne asada), Tuesday, 10 January 2017 15:10 (seven years ago) link

i like the idea of my career but it’s such a grind to build up your player

(•̪●) (carne asada), Tuesday, 10 January 2017 15:13 (seven years ago) link

mycareer! And then just a lot of exhibitions

that was posted in the game-related lolz of some fashion thread a few days ago but tbh i'd be okay with it being posted in every thread in perpetuity

everything i have seen about yakuza 0 has been amazing/hilarious but somehow feel like i'd be better off continuing to watch clips online than actually playing the game

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 22 January 2017 21:43 (seven years ago) link

it'll be $5 someday

Mordy, Sunday, 22 January 2017 21:45 (seven years ago) link

lol tru

not playing the Yakuza games means robbing yourself of transcendent moments such as these:

two weeks pass...

for honor open beta is really fun

dollar general (am0n), Friday, 10 February 2017 01:35 (seven years ago) link

two weeks pass...

horizon zero dawn? anyone on it?

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 1 March 2017 17:23 (seven years ago) link

i got so pumped up reading reviews about it last week and raced onto the store to buy it, only to find out that it wasn't on sale until today. so i got impatient and bought the closest possible thing, the LOTR shadows of mordor game, which is really fun (and only $19). i still want to play horizon zero dawn but i'll probably wait until a pricedrop/DLC/game of the year edition, etc.

Karl Malone, Wednesday, 1 March 2017 17:25 (seven years ago) link

after my failed attempt at getting back into civ for mac i accidentally found a dweeb playing for honor and it looked so cool i am now thinking of buying a ps4 just to play it

is it worth it?

F♯ A♯ (∞), Wednesday, 1 March 2017 17:30 (seven years ago) link

I'm interested but will wait until after I'm done with Nioh, which may be awhile. Never finished Dishonored 2 either.

I also downloaded A Night in the Woods to play with my gf, been anticipating that for awhile.

xp

played the free beta a bit a couple weeks ago. they definitely need more classes than just three and the ones they have are pretty unbalanced. But it was ok overall

(•̪●) (carne asada), Wednesday, 1 March 2017 17:36 (seven years ago) link

my wife bought me dishonored 2 for xmas and it's still in the plastic bc i wanted to finish/get bored of witcher 3 before i started it and that hasn't happened yet

na (NA), Wednesday, 1 March 2017 17:37 (seven years ago) link

i had nioh lined up as my next game but i think i am all about horizon zd instead now, i got bit by the hype p hard

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 1 March 2017 17:42 (seven years ago) link

xxp

meh okay

ill hold off

F♯ A♯ (∞), Wednesday, 1 March 2017 17:48 (seven years ago) link

horizon looks so generic

||||||||, Wednesday, 1 March 2017 17:51 (seven years ago) link

I'm not excited about another huge map of Far Cry-type objectives, but the mechanics of dealing with the different dinobots looks pretty cool.

lure of dinobots is v strong, true

nioh is fun, soulslike with kind of Diablo 3 loot system that seems to encourage farming to a degree though i am not quite close enough to endgame to say for sure. needs pvp but lots to like

art, Wednesday, 1 March 2017 20:32 (seven years ago) link

i am playing through ds3's dlc now, the lure is still strong of "soulslikes"
