idk there's lots I haven't heard of on there but there are quite a few names I've rarely thought about in like a decade. I had no idea bands like Jimmy Eat World and Sum 41 were still going somehow.

but Kerrang has always been really loyal to old heritage acts

the Kerrang list has a few good things on it, some real horrific stuff and the rest is bands I've never heard of as I havent read Kerrang in a decade bar the eoy albums issues.

record was very easy to write about without listening to it afaict

yeah i read alfred's rvw too

altho in fairness i think the max alb maybe does lack for some mystery quality that elicited the repeat compulsion of the one before... idgi cos whenever i listened i was riveted, senses overloaded, but after...

i thought so too for a while but lately i've been coming back to it a lot in the way i feel magnetized to the first. (though i still sorta don't know why the stuart matthewman tracks are there and they sorta give me a nightmare vision of a bloozy sade record)

yeah the matthewman trax are entirely it, i resent them v deeply. guess that they manage to effectively down the whole thing on their own is testament to the crystalline changeling construction of the rest, refinement to an near-imperceptible nanotech degree

without them it is prob the most truly futuristic soul record ever

That Idolator top 10 is my favourite list so far. I think it's the first list to feature Shura. Also the Bruno Mars and Kristin Kontrol records really deserve their places.

Happy the Muncie Girls record was given a nod in the Kerrang list.

the idolator list is pretty typical/predictable of nu-idolator, the mainstream pop records plus a few albums that mostly the pop blogosphere stans over

I've been relistening to the Maxwell album too. I got stuck on "All the Ways That Love Can Feel" for a couple listening cycles on Sunday.

lol, i had no idea which these were and...they are two of the strongest tracks for me

i spend the first half of the album enjoying it but as background music but the second half completely reels me in and i'm usually spellbound by the end. still not determined the exact point in the album the shift occurs for me

Goddamit Idolator you had a chance to mention KING as not really an album but a comp + new songs and you fucked it up
