I just recently bought a protection plan for my PS3, ensuring I'll be firmly last gen for most of the remainder of this decade.

i need microsoft installed on my desktop, can you help (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 6 December 2016 16:41 (seven years ago) link

just realised that the ps3 is now just over 10 years old and that i now have a backlog of unplayed games which spans multiple console generations

i'm gonna die never having played nino no kuni aren't i

lol, i've just been giving systems and backlog away lately to friends
the look on my friend's face when she started playing super mario galaxy 2 was super classic

I have a copy of that that I still have to play - which is ridiculous because SMG is one of the best games I've ever played and I've mostly heard that the sequel is better.

And yet I'm worse on the other systems - vis my question here is: if I get a PS4 to catch up on a generation of games, will it be able to play the generation of PS3 games that I didn't play either?

Not from what I understand.

Your dream speaks powerfully to me, ulysses.

Andrew Farrell, Tuesday, 6 December 2016 22:58 (seven years ago) link

I might even finish FFX 100% if they can get the human lifespan up by a decade or so by then.

Andrew Farrell, Tuesday, 6 December 2016 22:59 (seven years ago) link

only reason i haven't bought a PS4 yet is you still can't play Demon's Souls on it

Nhex, Wednesday, 7 December 2016 05:27 (seven years ago) link

it's an absolute joy but by no stretch of the imagination even remotely essential

why ruin a good tradition? (Will M.), Wednesday, 7 December 2016 05:35 (seven years ago) link

What's more essential than JOY? (I haven't finished it yet either)

JimD, Wednesday, 7 December 2016 12:49 (seven years ago) link

i mean like i can't actually remember if i beat it, i had some nice memories but they're all vague and cloudy.

why ruin a good tradition? (Will M.), Wednesday, 7 December 2016 15:05 (seven years ago) link

i remember it being super grindy but that may be how i played it. i know i didn't last more than a few days.

verdun (looked like a shittier bf1 yet somehow way way better than bf1?!?)
slain back from hell (lol)

Doesn't look like it's quite for me, but it also looks insane.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Wednesday, 28 December 2016 20:29 (seven years ago) link

ok i picked up Inside too tho it might have to wait for me to finish witcher 3 and mankind divided b4 i get to it

Mordy, Wednesday, 28 December 2016 20:31 (seven years ago) link

Inside only takes a couple hours start to finish.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Wednesday, 28 December 2016 20:32 (seven years ago) link

omg, Inside was spectacular. probably the most engaged i've been with a game since i put down dark souls 3
speaking of which, i'm replaying that and downloaded the new add on.

A big shout out goes to the lamb chops, thos lamb chops (ulysses), Thursday, 29 December 2016 07:34 (seven years ago) link

seriously though, do get Inside
it's more insightful about AI and frankenstein morality than the whole first season of Westworld... and there's no spoken words!

A big shout out goes to the lamb chops, thos lamb chops (ulysses), Thursday, 29 December 2016 07:35 (seven years ago) link

youve got to be fucking kidding me

wait all day for FFXV update to download
turn on ps4, system update installation
click on FFXV, software update installation
WTF clicking on new game doesnt work??
"Install time remaining: 18 min."

just another (diamonddave85), Thursday, 29 December 2016 22:27 (seven years ago) link

it's not much more fun when it's installed honestly..

A big shout out goes to the lamb chops, thos lamb chops (ulysses), Thursday, 29 December 2016 22:30 (seven years ago) link

ouch so it's not good?

Mordy, Thursday, 29 December 2016 22:43 (seven years ago) link

not for me

A big shout out goes to the lamb chops, thos lamb chops (ulysses), Thursday, 29 December 2016 23:05 (seven years ago) link

FINE GUYS I'LL BUY INSIDE (although for Steam)

thos beads (jamescobo), Friday, 30 December 2016 00:49 (seven years ago) link

it's stupid good AND best if you know absolutely nothing about it.

A big shout out goes to the lamb chops, thos lamb chops (ulysses), Friday, 30 December 2016 00:50 (seven years ago) link

well this game is just fucking stunning. reminds me of Another World in the best possible way.

thos beads (jamescobo), Friday, 30 December 2016 06:33 (seven years ago) link

I had another world on my mind as well

i believe that (s)he is sincere (forksclovetofu), Friday, 30 December 2016 07:00 (seven years ago) link

did you guys get, um, all the orbs?

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 30 December 2016 14:47 (seven years ago) link

inside was great, rly bizarre

am0n, Friday, 30 December 2016 17:29 (seven years ago) link

did you all play limbo? just asking because when it came out i don't remember the reaction being so overwhelmingly positive. i thought inside was really good but not a quantum leap past what limbo did.

Karl Malone, Friday, 30 December 2016 17:35 (seven years ago) link

idk, i remember a whole lot of acclaim around Limbo at the time? and in irl it was the only game that my friends who don't play video games got super into (either watching or playing).

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 30 December 2016 17:50 (seven years ago) link

I did not play Limbo because I figured it was a mountain of pompous Braid-y twaddle when it came out; I am, however, about to play the everliving shit out of it once I finish Inside (and play at least a bit of BF1 before the year is over) because Inside is straight-up incredible.

thos beads (jamescobo), Friday, 30 December 2016 18:58 (seven years ago) link

yeah imo iirc Limbo is nothing like Braid - not twee at all

Mordy, Friday, 30 December 2016 19:02 (seven years ago) link

It's basically the opposite of Braid, aside from being 2-d and having puzzles.

Limbo has some trickier puzzles compared to Inside, but Inside found me thinking a lot more about the world and 'story'.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 30 December 2016 19:04 (seven years ago) link

ugh fine i'll play this game and unbookmark this thread guyz

Nhex, Friday, 30 December 2016 19:24 (seven years ago) link

i don't know what inside is going on about storywise but yeah way more engaging to me than limbo which got a bit too heavy on the puzzle shit towards the end

verdun... sucks. i was hoping for a ww1 version of chivalry medieval warfare but its just kinda lame

am0n, Friday, 30 December 2016 21:48 (seven years ago) link

slain is pretty good. strong castlevania sotn vibes but throwing a shitload of enemies at u at once like dark souls 2
