this album is fucking great. watusi sounds like something portishead would have made if they had gone for a summer vibe. the producer on this deserves props

This really is great.

not really hearing much of a song in those two clips to be honest. heard this on the radio today also, minus the maddeningly busy video... still not convinced.

not very Björk-y either, although recently, feh. That's probably for the best.

fandango, Sunday, 10 May 2009 18:43 (fourteen years ago) link

17 Horses reminds me of PJ Harvey rather than Bjork. Something about the way she only uses a very small number of notes and really bellows them out against those massive incessant chords.

Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Sunday, 10 May 2009 20:38 (fourteen years ago) link

Watusi already sounds a bit like its own Jacques Lu Cont or Alan Braxe remix. This stuff is really great - I'd always assumed Cortney Tidwell is normal unremixed form was a lot more folky than this. Maybe I should listen to the album.

Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Sunday, 10 May 2009 20:42 (fourteen years ago) link

is this thing out now, or just leaked?

henry s, Monday, 11 May 2009 02:13 (fourteen years ago) link

the track this thread is about remains A+, I stick it on my iPod pretty often still. Those other youtubes getting posted are pretty boring in comparison.

Roz, Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:03 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah - listened to it late the other night and it definitely hit the spot

lex pretend, Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:06 (fourteen years ago) link

Too inextricably pulled in by the portentous loveliness of "Oh Suicide" to pay attention to the rest of the album yet. Haha.

The new album is so, so lovely. Think Oslo is my favourite so far, especially the last minute or so.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 9 June 2009 13:51 (fourteen years ago) link

"So We Sing" and "Oh, Suicide" are my favorites right now. But it changes every couple days.

This album is great. The whole damn thing. Love "Watusii" but I think "Son and Moon" is my favorite at the moment.

van smack, Friday, 19 June 2009 00:14 (fourteen years ago) link

I understand the Bjork comparisons on "Son and Moon" -- it reminds me of "Cocoon."

Bianca Jagger (jaymc), Monday, 22 June 2009 20:22 (fourteen years ago) link

played a house show with cortney tidwell last summer, she is kind of weird and shy but holy shit she can sing, the new album is fucking fantastic

rosario speedwagon (nickalicious), Monday, 22 June 2009 20:34 (fourteen years ago) link

Pretty sure you could stick 'Sun and Moon' on Vespertine and no one would notice.

Through Immer 3?

willem, Wednesday, 9 June 2010 18:53 (thirteen years ago) link

The Immer 3 mix of this is different from the old Ewan Pearson mixes, right?

totally through immer 3

Love love love the Immer 3 version of this. Don't think I ever heard the earlier remix, although I always intended to one day. How different are they?

hmmm...she's done a record with kurt wagner, i'd rather it was just her but pretty. seems like it is more his thing than hers.

Agreed - Boys is such a great Sunday afternoon chilling-out-and-recovering listen.

Their album's ok at but the Ewan Pearson re-edit of A.M. is rather special.

Boys is one of those albums that you think you like, but when you put it on you realise it's actually incredible. I'm really excited to hear this new one.

Forgot how much I love that Ewan Pearson remix. Very happily ordered a mint copy on discogs for like 4 euros shipped just now. :)
