WHOA: Just in from the @MTA: As a result of downed trees across the northern suburbs affecting all rail lines, Metro-North Railroad has suspended service … To prevent overcrowding of Grand Central Terminal, the Terminal’s entrances are being closed temporarily.

turned the key to the front door just as the first drops hit. didn't prevent me from getting hit by the pollen and garbage tornado though.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 21:41 (five years ago) link

the worst of the rain seems to have passed but now it's sirens all around and, yeah, my eyes are feeling that pollen/dust barrage.

I'm surprised there were any weak branches left on trees in NJ after the last 2 storms, but sure enough, more blocked roads.

I Got Wet

mookieproof, Monday, 22 July 2019 22:50 (four years ago) link

Last night I left work a bit early bc I commute by Vespa. Got stuck in a brief sun-shower on my way home and drivers were assholes, but finally arrived home. I went inside to set my stuff down in a hallway, passed by a window, and an ocean was falling from the skies.

Grateful for the near miss. Less grateful for the city bus driver who threw his drink on me out his window.

We're in Western Nassau County and for 1-2 hours this was almost as scary as Sandy. Lost power for about 5 hours and trees down everywhere. One fell right between two neighbors houses, grazing one slightly.

Yo, Semites! (PBKR), Wednesday, 5 August 2020 00:18 (three years ago) link

Wow, that's scary. In our part of Brooklyn it was just trees shaking everywhere and about an hour of really serious rain - looking down at my landlady's backyard we could see tree leaves all over the place, but only one of the two dozen potted plants was downed.
