Think this is the 4th Yob album to place

Currently on tour in Europe

A pleasing comeback album.

I can't get along with vocals like that at all. This Yob album on the other hand is pretty great.

Saint Vitus are one of the main reasons Doom Metal exists

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 15:30 (seven years ago) link

I really need to catch up with the later Yob albums. I like The Great Cessation. Had a good experience driving a U-Haul from Montreal with that one on. For some reason, I never bought anything later than that, but I remember liking what I heard.

Hi! I'm twice-coloured! (Sund4r), Wednesday, 14 September 2016 15:31 (seven years ago) link

It's going to mostly be about classical music for at least a few days, though.

Hi! I'm twice-coloured! (Sund4r), Wednesday, 14 September 2016 15:32 (seven years ago) link

and why would that be? (go on , have a free plug!)

love that cover

Cant call this poll predictable, can you?

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 15:42 (seven years ago) link

I feel like there's actually a decent overlap between the voting bases for this poll and the OTHER UPCOMING one.

Hi! I'm twice-coloured! (Sund4r), Wednesday, 14 September 2016 15:43 (seven years ago) link

When does voting end? I can definitely look at the nominations and vote for what I know/like in a totally uninformed way!

I dont think of the EP's as one release but it was officially released as this on CD so here we go.
I suppose its better than having both EP's taking up 2 places in the 100.

The bands best ever songs are on these 2 EP's so very nice to see this place so high as they tend to not be known by people.

I have my originals on vinyl :)

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 15:51 (seven years ago) link

I think at this point everyone's fed up talking about Baroness (and how they prefer Purple)

An Imago vote one assumes

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 16:05 (seven years ago) link

Oh yay! I am wearing my DHG t-shirt even now. A Umbra Omega is a grand and astonishing work.

tangenttangent, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 16:09 (seven years ago) link

My #2! VERY nearly my #1. There's no track pick. You just have to hear it all, and to trust me. One of maybe the five best prog albums of all time

imago, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 16:14 (seven years ago) link

Vicotnik is like the Garm that nobody's heard of, and he might be an even more complex and interesting songwriter

imago, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 16:18 (seven years ago) link

And this is one of those gargantuan albums whose length is a bonus, not a chore. I never want it to end. It's like peak VDGG

imago, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 16:22 (seven years ago) link

A dark adventure through the very limits of metal composition

(post the next one or I'll keep going)

imago, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 16:26 (seven years ago) link

A traipse through lucid madness! A theatrical dirge to the psychedelic power of true sadness!

imago, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 16:58 (seven years ago) link

Love that Torche album so much. Thick slabs of melody.

I tried with DHG but couldn't stand the guy's voice.

Ashamed to say I've still not heard those early Baroness EPs.

Voted for Surrounded by Thieves AZ nd Discontinuities. Thieves is my #22!

Xp and Grief's Infernal Flower too! Some great records that were probably TOO LOW on my ballot

Good album, but Tesarul De Lumini towers above everything (and most other BM, tbf)

imago, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 17:24 (seven years ago) link

xp

I voted for this too. So beautiful! Listening now and I also wish I'd put it higher. Kingfisher is something else

And this! Majority of my votes already featured by this point.

Such a change in sound from Pantheist from Funeral Doom to a proggy/avant garde sound but a great album it was.
I wonder if there will ever be a follow up.
This did quite well in the EOY poll iirc

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 17:37 (seven years ago) link

btw drugs a money, a couple of regular eoy voters who like the same stuff as you usually did not vote this time :(

If only, eh?

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 17:41 (seven years ago) link

― imago,

It is definitely one of my fave tracks of all time. But there was no point in having a tracks poll as no one bothers voting in those

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 17:42 (seven years ago) link

A Umbra Omega was my #100, I've never been able to work out how much I like it.

Meanderthal is classic.

I'm going to give Pantheist a go, I know nothing about it and feeling mildly adventurous
