jimmy was pretty good. couple of v nice plays, no real bonehead throws. needs to speed up his reads maybe but that's the kind of thing that can come with game experience

yeah i see the potential. his reads weren't always crisp but this was a tight game throughout and he didn't do anything egregiously dumb

Like some of the Bears, I kinda napped through part of the game but from what I saw Houston looked pretty decent. Texan's D-line looked pretty good, Clowney was a menace a few plays and they seemed to get a big push in the middle even though Watt until the end was kind held in check. Cutler gets some time, he seems to do ok. Bears could be middling, they don't look as terrible as a couple years ago.
Indy's D isn't that hot as they got little pass rush and they were down to like 5 DBs by the end of the game. Got to figure even as a low key guy, Caldwell probably enjoyed winning. Colt's had a couple TEs that were new to me looked pretty good. Detroit looked a bit more talented to me, but both clubs are probably pretty middling. That RB for the Lions played pretty well.

well...josh mccown was not really the reason the browns didn't win games last season. so the situation is bad but that's because it was already bad.

yes but RGIII had like a 5% shot at maybe resembling what he was that one year in Washington while John McCown is 100% Josh McCown

― schwantz, Tuesday, 13 September 2016 04:57 (seven years ago) link
Could the Niners possibly be good, or are the Rams really that bad?
― schwantz, Tuesday, 13 September 2016 05:21 (seven years ago) link
case keenum is a septic tank of a qb with no one to throw to anyway. the niners defense played like they knew it and worse the rams offense played like they knew it. it's going to be impossible for them to move the ball when the defense knows it only has to defend 10 yards from the LOS. niners offense seems like it is probably bad also but they played a conservative game vs a good defense and were able to score with it.

http://deadspin.com/trent-dilfer-should-consider-sitting-this-one-out-1786605611
Dilfer appeared on radio station KNBR on Tuesday to clarify his comments. He said he had prepared all week to refine his Countdown takes in a way that would be thoughtful, but not give in to the “politically correct police.” (His words.) Dilfer believed that too many people focused on the part of his spiel where he said the role of a backup quarterback is to shut up. Then, in a bizarre twist, Dilfer invoked the time when he was a backup on the Seattle Seahawks and kept his mouth shut about child slavery, because he didn’t want to derail the team.
“My wife and I had been introduced to some really disturbing stuff and other social injustices: Childhood slavery in our country. And I’d gone to a couple seminars and presentations where we got really deep in the weeds about this issue. It became a passion of ours to help fight this battle of childhood slavery around the country and I had a very big platform in Seattle and I could have leveraged being a Seattle Seahawk, being an NFL quarterback, done a lot to get that message out there, but I chose not to at the sake of not wanting to disrupt the team and I never want to draw attention to myself, and take it away from Matt, the rest of our team and our preparation to win.”
