i'm told that a running back 'put the ball on the ground'

mookieproof, Friday, 9 September 2016 00:59 (seven years ago) link

new denver qb looks like he could be a manning cousin. based on that play i imagine that's the main reason he's out there.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 9 September 2016 01:09 (seven years ago) link

kelvin benjamin looks like he was worth the wait

carolina spewing the game away and don't deserve the win really but broncos defense apparently dirty motherfuckers again for 2016, so here's hoping this kick goes

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 9 September 2016 03:51 (seven years ago) link

omg the denver luck streak continues

typically skip pregame shows anyway but zero chance i would've tuned in today. someone posted pic of randy giving dilfer daggers, don't even want to imagine

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 11 September 2016 17:22 (seven years ago) link

watching jets/bengals for some reason. jets rolled over bengals with ease first drive for the td. very disappointing. forte looks like he still has plenty

i understand the seahawks as a team are going to do a thing during the anthem today? not sure what. wonder if we get another round of freakouts. sigh

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 11 September 2016 18:08 (seven years ago) link

idk don't have the game either but by the #s he seems to be doing ok

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 11 September 2016 18:10 (seven years ago) link

i was playing cricket one time at high school and was batting vs the star sports guy in our year. first play he threw the ball approx 100 mph and it nearly hit me. 2nd play as soon as he released the ball i just thought fuck this and literally ran away. and now, watching this game, it is interesting to see andy dalton do basically the same thing every dropback

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 11 September 2016 18:14 (seven years ago) link

RG looks fine! Horrible play calling in the first quarter tho.

brownie, Sunday, 11 September 2016 18:24 (seven years ago) link

oh that's good. rooting for RGIII to be successful! they did him wrong in washington

rip van wanko, Sunday, 11 September 2016 20:14 (seven years ago) link

and that screen play was gutless

rip van wanko, Sunday, 11 September 2016 20:14 (seven years ago) link

i think going for the quick slant made sense, bortles just rushed it. but yeah the 4th down play was pretty lame

Al Moon Faced Poon (Moodles), Monday, 12 September 2016 04:09 (seven years ago) link

i watched two games this week and both ended on missed field goals

lag∞n, Monday, 12 September 2016 04:19 (seven years ago) link

Like some of the Bears, I kinda napped through part of the game but from what I saw Houston looked pretty decent. Texan's D-line looked pretty good, Clowney was a menace a few plays and they seemed to get a big push in the middle even though Watt until the end was kind held in check. Cutler gets some time, he seems to do ok. Bears could be middling, they don't look as terrible as a couple years ago.

Indy's D isn't that hot as they got little pass rush and they were down to like 5 DBs by the end of the game. Got to figure even as a low key guy, Caldwell probably enjoyed winning. Colt's had a couple TEs that were new to me looked pretty good. Detroit looked a bit more talented to me, but both clubs are probably pretty middling. That RB for the Lions played pretty well.

earlnash, Monday, 12 September 2016 04:24 (seven years ago) link

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 12 September 2016 18:55 (seven years ago) link

hah my family in Akron all say they expected him to be out for the season by Week 4, can't believe they were actually being too optimistic

frogbs, Monday, 12 September 2016 18:59 (seven years ago) link

well...josh mccown was not really the reason the browns didn't win games last season. so the situation is bad but that's because it was already bad.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 12 September 2016 19:00 (seven years ago) link

yes but RGIII had like a 5% shot at maybe resembling what he was that one year in Washington while John McCown is 100% Josh McCown

frogbs, Monday, 12 September 2016 19:04 (seven years ago) link

Josh "Raven Killer" McCown is back, baby

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 13 September 2016 04:41 (seven years ago) link

Trent Brown: 6'8", 355lbs!

schwantz, Tuesday, 13 September 2016 04:57 (seven years ago) link

Could the Niners possibly be good, or are the Rams really that bad?

schwantz, Tuesday, 13 September 2016 05:21 (seven years ago) link

case keenum is a septic tank of a qb with no one to throw to anyway. the niners defense played like they knew it and worse the rams offense played like they knew it. it's going to be impossible for them to move the ball when the defense knows it only has to defend 10 yards from the LOS. niners offense seems like it is probably bad also but they played a conservative game vs a good defense and were able to score with it.

http://deadspin.com/trent-dilfer-should-consider-sitting-this-one-out-1786605611

Dilfer appeared on radio station KNBR on Tuesday to clarify his comments. He said he had prepared all week to refine his Countdown takes in a way that would be thoughtful, but not give in to the “politically correct police.” (His words.) Dilfer believed that too many people focused on the part of his spiel where he said the role of a backup quarterback is to shut up. Then, in a bizarre twist, Dilfer invoked the time when he was a backup on the Seattle Seahawks and kept his mouth shut about child slavery, because he didn’t want to derail the team.

“My wife and I had been introduced to some really disturbing stuff and other social injustices: Childhood slavery in our country. And I’d gone to a couple seminars and presentations where we got really deep in the weeds about this issue. It became a passion of ours to help fight this battle of childhood slavery around the country and I had a very big platform in Seattle and I could have leveraged being a Seattle Seahawk, being an NFL quarterback, done a lot to get that message out there, but I chose not to at the sake of not wanting to disrupt the team and I never want to draw attention to myself, and take it away from Matt, the rest of our team and our preparation to win.”
