How do you collect coins when you put a poke in the gym?

I need more yellow gyms near me. They're all blue here. I should have checked before I picked my colour.

The gym/gold thing ismy great bc of the 20 hour limit on collecting coins. The act of battling is rly only for ur amusement once u collect your coins for the day. The best strategy, in terms of time management, is to try and get in a lot of gyms all at once (easy in the city; idk where u live) and collect ur coins all at once. U can keep going to gyms if u want (for fun or whatever) but u can just not worry about it until ur clock runs out.

central park update: probably a hundred people stampeding up a path in the evening, clearly still a thing but the energy levels of the crowds are more muted, less interaction, more hardcore players now i think and most of the casuals have dropped out of serious hunting.

Yeah, it's definitely like checking yr email. My desk is within range of a pokestop (I'm on a university campus with three gyms in lunch-distance and dozens of pokestops).

Ended post too early; and I find myself spinning the pokestop every few minutes.

I'm halfway through a two-week pidgey stacking exercise. Gonna crack a lucky egg on Wednesday.

I just leveled-up to level 20 and now it;'s gonna take me 50k experience points to get to 21, wtf?!

Please explain your pidgey stacking exercise.

I catch all pidgeys and keep them for a fortnight to evolve as many as possible in one go. If you do that while a lucky egg is in use you get double XP (and below level 20 that usually takes you up a level). You can do this with other pokes as well, but as pidgeys only need 12 candies to evolve they are particularly efficient. Yesterday I evolved 13 pidgeys, 6 rats, 3 drowsies, 2 spearows, a shellder and a horsey in about 20 minutes, and it's got me close to level 22. Very boring, so make sure you have something good on telly.

Ooooh. Tactics! That's the thing. There are tactics. Like, I wonm't walk past any pokemon now unless I absolutely have to - I try and catch every last bloody rat and pidgey. And evolve all the time.

Yeah stockpile is the thing. Honestly I haven't noticed much in the upper levels apart from the base-level size of the Pokemon increasing and you get the max potion, which is throwing off my ability to keep the ball/potion balance correct

...also if u know you have an evolution that leads to a new character u haven't had before u can save those for the egg too bc points. i did that w an arcanine the various eevee evolutions

I'd been transferring anything I already had to the professor pretty much straight away, and just keeping one of each in my bag, only evolving when I'd get a new model, as it were.

omg hit level 25 and it takes 190k to get to 26, that is a lot of weedles and pidgies.

(xp) You don't get double XP on an egg for transfers, so it still makes sense to immediately transfer anything you're unlikely to evolve.

Just caught a Hitmanlee at my desk while spinning the pokestop I sit under every five minutes to top up my pokeballs. Never even heard of one before. I've called him Bruce. Do you change the names of your Pokes?

Stacked s load of pidgeys and caterpies today, and got to evolve point with a bunch of others, sat down just now, cracked an egg and managed to level up to 21. 75k to get to level 22! Holy shit.

Jaq, do you get more items for your backpack when you level up to higher numbers? Because I got precisely zilch when I went from 21 to 22 :(

Argh I only get good stuff every five levels now?

Yeah, only on the 0s and the 5s. Level 25 was pretty sweet, lots of ultra balls and a new level of potion, plus 1 each lure, incense, lucky egg. but it's a long long way to level 30.

I knocked a 1900 CP Gyrados out this morning with a 1400 CP Electrobuzz and a couple squirts from a Vaporeon. Left my Wigglytuff behind to fend for himself.

Got a local gym for all of 1 minute earlier. My vaporeon took down the big slowpoke dude.

Fruitful trip to my old hometown dentist this morning; had an horu to kill between trains and caught a couple of kabutos, a pinsir, a nidoqueen (all new to me), plus a couple each of magnet things and voltorbs, which are pretty rare where I normally hunt. Left a poke behind at a gym where I used to drink.

Hahaha, I just stumbled upon Pokemon Soc (it's freshers week) and the president seemed quite pleased that I instagrammed their sign... but god I felt old.

So is anyone still playing this? The Halloween event has started - loads more candies for catching, walking, and transferring, plus Ghastlies etc bloody everywhere. Already got 10 Squirtle candies this morning and finally evolved up to a Blastoise, which I've been working on for ages.

Nearing level 25. Just want to catch the rest of the Pokemon ( I have 108 so far) so I can be freed.

Um you know there are another 100 or so Pokémon due to be added in the near future?

Level 31, 135 pokes in my pokedex.

So I caught two festive Pikachus at lunchtime, and I see someone on campus hatched an Elekid and stuck him in a gym to show off. Most rubbish 'event' ever. They'd better be rolling other stuff out over the next three weeks.

Finally hatched a Snorlax today. In about a decade I might get a Dragonite. Spotted a festive Pikachu in the area, but it was off my usual commute route and I was already late for work.

I hatched a Snorlax on Friday. Managed to evolve a Gyarados about a week ago too. I'm kind of assuming a Dragonite is months off because even walking for the candy is just no good.

I'm missing Bulbasaur, Chansey, the international ones, Dodrio, Lapras, Porygon, Omastar, and Kabutops.

Had a crazy idea about exchanging account details with someone in Aus or the US or Japan in order to get Kangaskhan etc in exchange for Mr Mime. Except that Mr Mime's fucking horrible so who wants him.

Hatched a Magby today from a 10km egg and suddenly my Pokedex went from 149 spaces to 240. I'll never be free of it.

I have given it up for January. It is very strange fighting the impulse to spin pokestops as I pass them on my commute.

Anyone still playing now the gen2 lot have been out for a while? I gave up for a while after new year but have been lured back in; injury keeping me off the bike means walking to work (4km each way) so why the hell not, eh.

I gave up between 1st January and 17th March. Back into it, but I still sometimes forget to turn it on for the commute, so it's not the addiction it was. Already sick of catching Swinubs.
