Someone had to inherit the Man United draw.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Thursday, 25 August 2016 18:58 (seven years ago) link

Plenty potential for Spurs to finish third and end up in the fucking Europa again. I'd rather they go out having played Barca or Milan rather than some tame 1-0 defeat in Moscow.

groovypanda, Thursday, 25 August 2016 21:54 (seven years ago) link

Kane and Alli vs Akinfeev, Berezutsky, Ignashevich and Shennikov - what could possibly go wro...

No, on current form, and fully accepting that on their day Spurs can lose to anyone in the world, they should be ok against CSKA. Monaco are much weaker than they were two years ago. Leverkusen are good, though.

Lads it's far indeed we've come when we're moaning about the unglam standard of our cl opponents ffs

No team with Ben Davies in it will ever win the cl

Better

groovypanda, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 19:34 (seven years ago) link

Is it not a penalty if the ball isn't in play? Didn't Blanc concede one in the World Cup once?

On a Raqqa tip (ShariVari), Wednesday, 14 September 2016 20:00 (seven years ago) link

Possibly not, googling it.

On a Raqqa tip (ShariVari), Wednesday, 14 September 2016 20:02 (seven years ago) link

No. Same thing happened recently in a Prem game but can't remember which one

groovypanda, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 20:11 (seven years ago) link

lol at the Monaco defenders having the same meagre understanding of the rules as me.

On a Raqqa tip (ShariVari), Wednesday, 14 September 2016 20:14 (seven years ago) link

xps Davies hasn't even been bad, there's just a glaring lack of finesse and vision compared to his teammates (even the ones who are often dense and drive me nuts)

The Codling Of The London Suede (Legal Warning Across The Atlantic) (DJ Mencap), Wednesday, 14 September 2016 20:16 (seven years ago) link

Sounds like you're describing a back-up left back.

mizzell, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 22:01 (seven years ago) link

Monaco are much weaker than they were two years ago.

hmmm

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 22:05 (seven years ago) link

They are, though they have had a terrific start to the season. Man-for-man it's a weaker team but Jardim is still an excellent manager. I missed the first half hour so didn't see them at their best but the last 45 minutes at least was all Spurs, though without a great deal of quality to show for it.

On a Raqqa tip (ShariVari), Wednesday, 14 September 2016 22:10 (seven years ago) link

I was at the game and while the first 15mins were all Spurs it seemed inevitable that Monaco would score with their first attack. Dier was being asked to do way too much (and he's off the boil in any case) and they kept running through our midfield until Dembele came on.

Should really have brought Sissoko on earlier, there was a sense that something might happen every time he ran at them, although a right flank of Sissoko and Walker is both terrifying and a disaster waiting to happen.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 22:19 (seven years ago) link

Spurs all over CSKA in opening 30 minutes.

We'll concede any minute now.

groovypanda, Tuesday, 27 September 2016 19:14 (seven years ago) link

Spurs look hugely vulnerable atm and have barely created anything. They can step up several gears though.

On a Raqqa tip (ShariVari), Tuesday, 27 September 2016 19:16 (seven years ago) link

Lamela stinking place out of it with his passing

poor fiddy-less albion (darraghmac), Tuesday, 27 September 2016 19:34 (seven years ago) link

Not sure subbing Janssen instead is a wise move.

three months pass...

seen figures for various club's net spend, didn't realise what an exceptional case spurs are. top 6's net spend since 12/13 (this cribbed off twitter so somewhat dubious)

City £402m
United £368m
Arsenal £205m
Chelsea £192m
Liverpool £121m
Tottenham £1m

and looking here http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premier-league-last-five-seasons/transfer-league-tables/premier-league-table-last-five-seasons spurs have a lower net spend than any team currently in the PL except swansea. that's crazy, how is it the case?

ogmor, Thursday, 19 January 2017 16:02 (seven years ago) link

Selling club innit? ;)

Tim, Thursday, 19 January 2017 16:05 (seven years ago) link

£80m for Bale, £30m or whatever for Modric, £10m+ for pretty much every piece of squad deadweight. It adds up.

Matt DC, Thursday, 19 January 2017 16:07 (seven years ago) link

is there a more accomplished selling club?

ogmor, Thursday, 19 January 2017 16:08 (seven years ago) link

Porto. Juve.

Matt DC, Thursday, 19 January 2017 16:11 (seven years ago) link

If we can get more than £20m for Ben Davies, as Levy is reported to be holding out for, we would be up there with any of them.

Janssen refused a transfer to Galatasaray, his manager said today, as he "wants to go for his chance" at Spurs. That could've upped the balance with a million or two...

Walker I can't even.

Betsy DeVos Ayes (darraghmac), Thursday, 16 February 2017 18:37 (seven years ago) link

This is hateful stuff. Every decision a lazy clownish one, every execution a lazy slow one.

Alli stinking the place out of it this past while, the odd finish aside. Dembele turns are being measured in seasons

Betsy DeVos Ayes (darraghmac), Thursday, 16 February 2017 18:45 (seven years ago) link

i turned this shit off around 35 minutes. guardian minute by minute indicating spurs are playing better in the second half.

Behind to a Jeremy Perbet goal.

BBC Live Reporting:

Eric Dier's free-kick is very poor, strangling it wide of goal.

I have a ticket for next week but if Spurs refuse to turn up for the first leg I don't see why I should turn up for the second.

Bubba H.O.T.A.P.E (ShariVari), Thursday, 16 February 2017 19:25 (seven years ago) link

So far this season I've gone to the three CL games and masochistically decided to follow the run through the Europa as well. Currently feeling the same as you.

Presence of Sissoko in the starting lineup basically indicates "don't bother watching this".

Matt DC, Thursday, 16 February 2017 19:47 (seven years ago) link

Davies also

And dier at CB

And winks

Basically without our top CB pairing and Eriksen we're 10th
