boogie is awfully foul prone (he fouled out last night). he's not a great fit for this team, tho he's obv talented. DJ's got his FT problems, but he's a hell of a rebounder and defender. they have so many wings they can throw out, and with melo or KD as stretch 4 with DJ/dray at 5, kyrie or kyle are the only true PGs, put whomever at 2 and 3, there's your rotation. i wouldn't play boogie until that 20 or 30 point lead is in place.

yeah i bet DJ gets the starts once the games get more challenging.

Spottie, Tuesday, 9 August 2016 18:12 (seven years ago) link

based on on-and-off watching of spain, i have decided that sergio llull is a terrible ass hoopster and that rudy fernandez still has it

6 god none the richer (m bison), Tuesday, 9 August 2016 18:29 (seven years ago) link

this is a good game

Spottie, Tuesday, 9 August 2016 18:33 (seven years ago) link

i love huertas

i really like some of the international rules, like:

-on an offensive rebound the shot clock resets to 14 not 24
-balls on the rim can be tipped in or knocked out

nba should def adopt that first one = more possessions

Spottie, Tuesday, 9 August 2016 18:51 (seven years ago) link

hahaha now llull is playing good so whatever

6 god none the richer (m bison), Tuesday, 9 August 2016 19:03 (seven years ago) link

those are good rules imo

brazil is blowing this game

Espana 0-2

Spottie, Tuesday, 9 August 2016 19:13 (seven years ago) link

they still gotta play lithuania and argentina. probably need to beat both of them to advance.

6 god none the richer (m bison), Tuesday, 9 August 2016 19:40 (seven years ago) link

Diana Taurasi's shot is so pure, best form in women's ball

this is competitive. aus has the lead

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 August 2016 22:33 (seven years ago) link

loving this real ass basketball.

france won a tight one against serbia, come from behind with tony parker hitting a game winner. former spur nando de colo lighting shit up, 22 pts.

Clay, Wednesday, 10 August 2016 23:43 (seven years ago) link

micah, Wednesday, 10 August 2016 23:45 (seven years ago) link

haven't had to yet. just one pass and jack a three

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 August 2016 23:46 (seven years ago) link

think this will whip them into shape a bit tbf

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 August 2016 23:47 (seven years ago) link

Doug Collins has like 3 things he says about each player and just repeats them to death.

aus might be the closest they get to real competition at this olympics

micah, Wednesday, 10 August 2016 23:59 (seven years ago) link

yeah with how spain has played

Spottie, Thursday, 11 August 2016 00:09 (seven years ago) link

all the teams are so old

Clay, Thursday, 11 August 2016 00:31 (seven years ago) link

Australia not too bad, thrills baynes ingles delly even bogut isn't a dinosaur yet

Spottie, Thursday, 11 August 2016 02:05 (seven years ago) link

aus might be interesting in another 4 years

baynes and mills should still be decent and delly, simmons, exum & maker could show

micah, Thursday, 11 August 2016 03:56 (seven years ago) link

xp

yeah, other than australia which has some great young talent (if this team comes back with a seasons ben simmons and dante exum? could be cool), im worried about the international competition getting weaker in relation to US. argentina will be trash in 2020 sans manu and scola and delfino and nocioni...holy shit theyre old. spain probably wont have the gasols in 4 years (maybe marc?) and other than rubio, who else? nene and barbosa are on their last legs for brazil. it's weird, it feels like the nba got more international but the international teams arent closing the gap that well. is it that good (but not great) euro players stay in the euro leagues and dont get to face NBA-level competition?

croatia and serbia are developing some good youngsters, so maybe the eastern euro squads make a leap with australia next time.

6 god none the richer (m bison), Thursday, 11 August 2016 04:12 (seven years ago) link

should say "seasoned" ben simmons

6 god none the richer (m bison), Thursday, 11 August 2016 04:17 (seven years ago) link

team usa are always going to be better, they have a much larger talent pool than any other country

micah, Thursday, 11 August 2016 04:24 (seven years ago) link

canada's gotta make the next olympics

lettered and hapful (symsymsym), Thursday, 11 August 2016 04:24 (seven years ago) link

i'm still really bitter about missing this one

lettered and hapful (symsymsym), Thursday, 11 August 2016 04:25 (seven years ago) link

think they have a replay online?

Spottie, Thursday, 11 August 2016 04:26 (seven years ago) link

if you could form teams by continents it would actually be really cool imo

micah, Thursday, 11 August 2016 04:26 (seven years ago) link

Canada could maybe be okay next cycle xps

Clay, Thursday, 11 August 2016 04:27 (seven years ago) link

well yeah, im not suggesting absolute parity, but 2004 happened. spain made some things competitive once. i guess australia is in that spot now. but im more thinking of outside of the us, there seemed to be many countries getting in the mix for medals and it feels like some of those power countries (russia gone, argentina and brazil will be, what will spain look like, etc) arent necessraily getting overtaken by equally powerful teams.

6 god none the richer (m bison), Thursday, 11 August 2016 04:32 (seven years ago) link

Spottie, Friday, 19 August 2016 19:09 (seven years ago) link

Spottie, Friday, 19 August 2016 23:05 (seven years ago) link

bogut is still only good for 4 games of a series

micah, Saturday, 20 August 2016 08:33 (seven years ago) link

US women six straight golds v nice

Clay, Saturday, 20 August 2016 20:12 (seven years ago) link

USA really feelin themselves now. Both teams suddenly realized how good/not as good they're supposed to be. USA spends so much time being scared to lose that it often causes them to nearly do just that.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 21 August 2016 19:32 (seven years ago) link

lol this gold medal game might be the most one-sided one they've played all summer, even more so than the pre-olympic exhibitions

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Sunday, 21 August 2016 20:20 (seven years ago) link

In this Olympic final Durant = MVP. Melo has played like crap, but then, so has Draymond. It's just that Melo got way more minutes than he deserved and Draymond only got in very late, after the game was getting sloppy.

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Sunday, 21 August 2016 20:32 (seven years ago) link

He was definitely in the dick pic penalty box

gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Sunday, 21 August 2016 21:07 (seven years ago) link

What a boring game and kind of boring team but I guess U-S-A U-S-A

gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Sunday, 21 August 2016 21:08 (seven years ago) link

I did enjoy watching milos teodosic again though, wonder if he'll come to the nba next summer or if we'll have to wait until he's super old ala purple prijian

gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Sunday, 21 August 2016 21:12 (seven years ago) link

i havent watched it yet but apparently the reffing in the bronze medal game was totally cooked

micah, Monday, 22 August 2016 01:14 (seven years ago) link

excited for coach k to be done so they can let pop run this thing. this team really wasn't fun to watch at all. they had one play today that was cool where there was like 6 passes in a row lead to a KD three but thats about it. probably split the mvp of the whole thing between KD and Deandre.

Spottie, Monday, 22 August 2016 05:42 (seven years ago) link

Melo getting emotional in his final interview was cool
