expensive sandwiches

Tomorrow may be oyster po-boy day.

see, a lot of these i wldn't even really consider sandwiches somehow, esp if they involve cooked, warm food. or lobster. or BLTs. or smoked meat. or grilled cheese. they're more like, i don't know, a dish or a specialty. something i maybe wldn't make at home anyway.
versus
all the stupid slapped-together sandwiches i could make at home with even better bread & ingredients but which cost $8-$12 and ooh you get a side salad or fries. and then they know we're on to them, so they offer a bunch of sandwiches with 'weird' components when really they are not that weird at all or interesting and the whole concept is totally transparent to the point where it all just turns around on you and you know you're making way too big a deal out of sandwiches

You don't consider a BLT or a grilled cheese a sandwich...?

those are i guess even my favourite sandwiches so that they actually transcend all food genres

I was thinking that if the list was in North America and not the USA they would include Schwartz's.

also BLTs and grilled cheese and smoked meat aren't usually considered expensive sandwiches!

sensuous sandwich had sunday comics under the tabletops and there were enough of them that you could kind of cycle through. there were cathy, garfield, and naked cupid posters on the wall. their sandwiches were cheap but fucking rich on cream cheese.
