i can't recall his name, but there was some reliever dude whp itched for the mets in the 80's who, through a combo of motion and tilt of his cap, more often that not dropped the cap by the end of each pitch. i can imagine how that'd get old.

and dontrelle willis, eat your heart out: what about juan marichal?

Satchel Paige's Euphus pitch would have been a fun thing to see after 3 straight 99 mph pitches.(he called one of his fast pitches the BB since thats what it looked like(or felt like) when it crossed home.

Eric Gagne did this weird thing yesterday after missing his location with a few pitches. He was talking to himself as he went back to the rosin bag then bent down and picked at his shoe for about 20 seconds. Then he took a few steps toward first base and started hopping up and down clicking his heels together in mid-jump.

He's a really weird guy.

The Mad Hungarian was great. How about Mitch 'WIld Thing' WIlliams like throwing himself off the mound with every pitch? Doesn't put you in the greatest position for fielding... but seemed like a pretty good distraction.

Ah Mark Fidrych, he's from Worcester. I see him around every once in a while. I've met a few ball players in my lifetime. Bucky Dent (unfortunately) and Ron Darling. Both clients of my fathers years ago. I went deep sea fishing with Bucky. I wanted to push him into the ocean.

I met a bunch at a baseball camp in Houston the summer after my 8th grade year ('88). Glenn Davis, Bill Doran, Billy Hatcher and Kevin Bass all came out and spoke to the campers or signed autographs or both. The Reds were in town, so one of the days Jeff Treadway and Paul O'Neil showed up. O'Neil came to our field and hung out in the dugout with us for a while. Really nice guy. Also, former ML player/coach Dennis Menke ran some 3rd base drill for a group of about 4 of us.
